Nunge Garza Perfect Storm

IllQC did use the word "sleeper" in there. Nunge was runner-up Mr. Basketball in Indiana, no?

Could at least be a poor man's version of Zeller but could easily be better than that.

I've said it before but I don't put much value in Mr. Basketball awards, see Connor this year. I do think Nunge is underrated but not seeing the Zeller comparison

I'm not complaining. I'm offering my opinion on Baer's weakness. If that bothers you, that's your problem. I like Baer's game and his contribution to the Hawkeyes. But there are things he can't do on the basketball court. Pointing them out is not a crime. You're just looking for reasons to be butthurt. Have fun with that.

Without getting in a pissing match, lets just say I disagree. Baer can guard a wing player. You don't think he is a wing, I can respect that, just a difference of opinion here. Fran played this combo a ton last year: Jordan, (Jok, Moss or Ellingson) and Baer at the PG and wing spots, with Cook and either Pemsl/Wagner/Uhl.

Also I'm not sure why everyone thinks we need to go 5 deep for 2 wing spots? Moss, Dailey, Ellingson, and Baer is more than enough for 2 wing spots. If anything Fran needs to shorten the rotations. We don't need to give 5 wing players each 16 MPG.

Now if you are worried about the quality of said players to play the wing spot, that is completely different. Especially if you don't consider Baer a wing player.
He's a tweener. He can provide minutes at the 3 and the 4. No shame in that.

How are you coming on the names of which bigs could play the 2?
Baer
Kriener
Pemsl
Garza
Nunge
Uhl
Wagner
Cook
Which ones?

All he does is tries to pick fights. I said Moss will have an advantage of being older than most kids he's going up against and he still tried to attack me. It's very annoying

I have a feeling it's because he doesn't know anything about basketball. If you can't discuss strengths and weaknesses intelligently, you take the position of defending all things Hawkeye. That or he is ultra sensitive to any criticism and latches on to that part of any discussion. I've coached kids that were like that. It's extremely difficult to get them to understand that your coaching isn't a personal attack on them. Hurts my head.
Baer is my favorite Hawkeye on this team and it's not close. Critical analysis of his game makes me a hater or a negative person, I guess.

Nunge reminds me of an Indiana High School player that propelled Indiana to national prominence a few years back in Cody Zeller then Jarred Uthoff, and although Jack didn't receive as much attention as Cody out of High School still made first team honors in Indiana and played in a higher class then Cody.....we may have recruited a sleeper that may surprise the college basketball world.....

Nunge reminds me of Zeller also. He certainly seems to have improved from his junior year. His game is much more polished.now. Believe Jack is already better from three range than Zeller was. Not certain how proficient Z was with the three anyway. Jack very active and skillful around the basket. As the season progresses I would imagine he will improve on a consistent basis. I do believe the comparison to Zeller is legit.....

Not saying that he will be as skillful as Cody was in his freshman year, but could be close and perhaps more of a threat because of the potential to be another assassin from beyond the arc.....

Baer can guard a wing player. Go back and re watch the Wisconsin game, he played Trice, Pritzl and Iverson Man v Man and did a fine job.

Saying that a RS Sr. is gonna be older the a Fr. is like saying water is wet. It adds no value, and basically makes you look like a dipshit.

I knew more about BB than you did last year. You predicted that Iowa was gonna finish 9th or worse in the B1G. I said they were going to be better than that. Who was right?

You also said that Garza was a POS and didn't deserve to get a D1 scholarship, claiming he was pigeon toed like you are some Dr.???

I don't call you out lightning on most of the stuff you say. I called you out on those two. You are also no fun to deal with for the most part, and many have had difficulties with you, because you get all pissed off when some don't agree with you. You think say that you coached, so you automatically know more than everyone on here. Yet I pointed out two very specific times in which we disagreed and one I was correct and you were wrong about already (B1G finish) and the other you will be (Garza).

Can you point out two times that we disagreed and you turned out to be correct? No you can't, because it hasn't happened. So before you go saying someone doesn't have basketball knowledge, you have better be right when disagreeing with them.

As far as Baer goes, I said I respectfully disagree. I get that you think he is more of a 4 or more a tweener. I wasn't calling you out, and specifically said I wasn't. I was just disagreeing with you. The problem is you can't handle people disagreeing with you, and you attack other as much or more than I do.

Nobody was talking to you. My opinion is just that. I have been wrong and I have been right. I was wrong about Bohannon but I was right about Williams. You were the opposite.

With his length he can actually guard people out on the perimeter. I realize he doesn't look the part, but the athleticism is there to guard people in space. Go back and look at the games and you will find plenty examples of this.

On the offensive end he isn't going to take people off the bounce, but he can shoot and he can run the floor. They don't need him to be a slasher in this offense to be effective.

Moss will be 23 his first game as a Senior. How old was Devyn his first game as a Senior. I pointed out an advantage he will have and I'm not the one looking like a dipshit here

And for like the 4th time you have incorrectly accused me of this. PC is the one who was saying that. I never said Bohannon or Williams was going to be good.

Like I said in the post about Baer, I get that is your opinion, I just disagree. No biggie, life will go on. Yet if you wanna take shots at me and say I don't know BB, then I will point out the times you and I have disagree and you have been wrong.

Moss took a RS. Players who take a RS are typically 23 their Sr. year of college. 95% of college players are 18 when they hit campus, Marble and Daniels are the rare exceptions to this, so congrats on picking out the rare exception? We aren't talking DeAndre Kane, when he was 30 years old as a Sr. at Clown U.

No. My response was for Melrose. You were one of the posters saying Williams would do well at the 1.

We have gone through this like 4 different times. No I did not say Williams would do well at the 1. I'm beginning to think you might be senile, as you have accused me of this like 4 different times now and each time I give you this link and then you realize is was @PCHawk was the one who said the things you think I said. I specifically said I thought we would struggle at the PG position.

Most players don't redshirt and he's older for his class turning 23 before the season starts. I have no clue why you attacked me over this but being an internet bully appears to make you feel better about yourself

I feel bad for you, not me. It must be a sad life to be a Clown fan on a Hawk site, pretending to like Iowa.

As far as Moss goes, what don't you understand? If you are born after August you enter college 18 years old and turn 19 while you are a Fr. Moss birthday is in October. All kids with October birthdays are going to turn 19 in October as a Fr. Why is this difficult to understand, there isn't anything unique or special about this. You are acting like Moss is somehow older, or was held back, when in reality all he did was take a RS.

You acted like you didn't want to talk about this, and now you won't let it drop. You just sound like a dipshit bringing this stuff up, when we all know Moss took a RS, that is all. He isn't going to be 30 like your boy Kane was when he as a Sr. for the Clowns.
