Nunge Garza Perfect Storm

Jok still scored a lot at the end of the year. He averaged over 20 ppg in the NIT and had that 35 point game against Indiana

His average slowly dropped from well over 20 points per game to just under by the end of the year. I'm almost positive he didn't average 20 in the NIT because I remember his 20 point average for the year continued to go down all the way until the last game where it finally dropped under 20 for the first time.

I get that Jok was great, I just think Iowa isn't lacking in the scoring category. Plenty of threats to make up for that. Iowa might miss it a little to start, but they won't miss him routinely turning it over 5 times a game especially in clutch situations and playing pretty bad D. Jok's departure will be much less of an impact than say Marble, White or Uthoff.

He has 20 and 22 in the NIT games.

Jok didn't turn it over that much, he only had 4 more TO's the whole season than Jordan

Is that what you want out of your SR SG? And you compare him to our freshman PG? He had at least 5 games that he had 5 or more TO's and some were just in horrible spots in games. Down a couple or up a couple with seconds left.

I still stand by the statement that we'll never make the second weekend with Jordan at PG. He's too limited offensively and is always going to be a liability defensively. I don't think Moss sucks but looking back he had a pretty poor year last year. I've been wrong on a few things and right on a few things that nobody agreed with, you just prove you don't know anything by always saying how good everyone will be

Seriously dude. You are stating stupid chit. Take some time and look at the year end stats for once. Jo Bo as a freshman was up in the top 3 for assists per game, up in top 5 or so range in assist per TO per game, up near top for 3 pointers. This all as a true freshman.

Call me stupid, but if you have a PG that is near the top in assists, 3 pointers and low turnovers, that's pretty effective. But I digress, I'm no Rocket Surgeon.

It sure is sounding like both these freshmen are the real deal. It also sounds like Nunge can play the 3. I'm hearing he handles the ball really well.

Exactly why the college game has changed so much since 1985. You make my earlier points with your statement. Now teams are getting a few players like Nunge on the court, tall athletic who can shoot and handle the ball.

This is why you only need a PG that takes care of the ball, distributes the ball, shoot the 3 and play decent D. It's not necessary to HAVE TO HAVE a need a dribble penetrator anymore. Is it nice, yes, but not a necessity.

They were unimpressive assists though so we have to take that into consideration. Mike didn't get credit for it so it's not fair to give Jordan credit for doing the same thing.

they both got credit for all assists, so that's where you're wrong

What the hell is an unimpressive assist? Wowza. You mean, stat takers in college basketball are counting regular passes as assists when they shouldn't be? The pass may not be fancy, but it shows good decision making as is hitting the open individual. Couple that with low turnovers. You can't look past a high assist low TO stat for a PG. This is the key stat to evaluate strong PG play.

Mike couldn't hit a consistent 3. In addition, when Mike drove he would get his shot consistently swatted away.

I think Fran was thinking more that MIke was going to be better 3 pt shooter than he was. Mike was solid/average, but his lack of a consistent 3 pt shot killed his college game, IMO.

CyTwins says this all the time on the Clone board. His two biggest points on why Jordan sucks is because he shot 38% on 2pt FG and his assists were unimpressive.

Who else says these exact same thing over and over about Jordan on this board?

Jordan as a Fr. > Mike as a Fr, So, and Jr. and about = to Mike as a Sr.

Mike was much better taking it to the rim than Jordan is. Not even close

That is about the dumbest thing I have read on this board, IN A LONG TIME!
