    Iowa offers Oglesby

I would like to see us make a push for Tuttle as well, especially if he is actually up to 6'8" or 6'9". He has committed to UNI but I've read a lot of good things about his motor. With it looking more and more like we will have 5 rides to give out (including Archie's), I'm getting nervous...

    2011 PG w/offer

Getting back to the original subject, does anyone know anything about Shaq.

    Scout's New 2012 Rankings

I agree Paige is gone, probably to Kansas if not Duke or NC or another national power. I would be very happy at this point to get Gessell and Woodbury. Woodbury actually sounds like a Hawkeye lean and probably has more upside, but Gessell is getting a lot of great pub and he would fill a need.

Predict Starting Linup by Iowa State game

I'm not convinced that Cole will be starting, especially at center. He gets abused defending bigger players and his offensive skills are limited. He is a GREAT leader, but he doesn't need to play to lead. I think Cougill and Brommer will get a shot at winning the 5, but it will probably end...

    who's your starting 5?

Cougs was grossly misused by Lick, guarding guards on the perimeter on defense and setting picks at the 3 point line on offense. No center would have done well if asked to do those things. He is a natural 5 with a 3 point shot and Fran will have a much better idea how to use him to his...

    In State Recruiting?

You are probably right about Worley, but according to Al's Iowa bio, he was #4 rated by Parade, so I think my point stands: High School: Prep all-America by Parade, National Coaches, McDonald's, Street and Smith's, Al McGuire's Top Five and USA Today...rated the No. 4 high school player in...

    In State Recruiting?

Raveling got Al Lorenzon, a top 5 recruit to come to Iowa. Alford got Glen Worley, at top 10 recruit. A good recruiter can convince in-state talent to stay.

Two Pieces of Information that I haven't seen posted here yet

There had been rumors that the 3rd assistant would bring a point guard with him. I guess we'll see now.

    Salter and Ware

Running out of eligibility? ? ? Explain this concept, I'm not familiar with it. Cougill is a STUD. He was grossly misused last year by the worst coach in Iowa basketball history. He will have a career like Brad Lohaus had under Mr. Davis.

    Iowa's all-time best "Dunkers"

Waymond King deserves a mention. 6 foot walk on under Lute who couldn't shoot but could jump higher than I can get on a ladder. Probably would have started for us this past year.

    Iowa's all-time best "Dunkers"

Waymond King deserves a mention. A 6 foot walk on guard under Lute who could sky and had one of the best names in Hawkeye history.

    Greatest Hawkeye BB Coach

Bucky O'Conner is #1 and it is not close. Had he not died in an auto accident, the landscape of Iowa basketball history would be much different today. I'd say Lute and Miller are tied for 2nd. From Wiki: The Fabulous Five Just as the United States emerged from the depression, so did Iowa's...

    New Recruit:Kevin Panzer?

One of the links refers to 6'4" Kory Alford from New Mexico playing at the AAU tournament in Las Vegas. Wonder if we are in on him.

    Workouts this week; tryouts?

People who don't think Cougill has a what it takes simply don't know how to evaluate a big man. They wouldn't have liked Les Jepsen, Acie Earl or Brad Lohaus as freshmen either. He has terrific hands, a good build, a high basketball IQ and great ball handling for his size. The only reason he...

Delany - NCAA tourney expansion- "probable"

Well, they are following the model put out by the NBA on how to kill fan interest.

A small rumor making the rounds

I think you can fairly rag on Lick for not making recruiting connections with AAU guys and Van Coleman types, and maybe some specific ex-hawkeyes, but I think he also made a very concerted effort to include Mr. Davis and many ex hawkeyes in what he was doing. I remember one article about how Dr...

    Don't Overlook Fran & Recruiting

My guess is we won't be able to pull anyone in from NY, but maybe PA, where Fran is from. With PSU being a perennial loser in Big Ten country, we may have a shot at some of Pittsburgh's rejects.
