Greg Garmon Arrested

Didn't this kid survive cancer? If so I will give him a pass on the dope. For all of those against leagalization of pot. Stop with the prohibitionist rhetoric and think in terms of how tobacco is taxed and taxed some more. Study after study shows more and more kids using pot, the laws against it do nothing, but make it even more popular. How many billions of dollars have been spent on a drug war that has been lost? It is time to legalize it and control it. Studies have been proven crime rates fall after legalization. I do not smoke pot, but I know plenty of people who do, it helps in all kids of ways that other drugs are prescibed for, ironic thing is the other drugs such as oxycoton are addictive unlike pot. In this day and age with so much information on the topic I just cannot believe this is still an argument even. Now should one smoke pot and drive, the obvious answer to this is hell no, just like no one should drive drunk or under the influence of any other drug that would slow down one's response time. I for one am sick of relying on politicians who do not speak for the public making decisions about what is best. Lets put this to a national vote along with gay marriage and settle it once and for all or at least for a period of 5 years or so.

saying pot isnt addictive proves you dont know much. all drugs are addictive it is just the level that causes addiction that changes and that has to do some with the person too. alcohol is addictive, even caffeine (which is a drug whether you know it or not) is addictive.

do i think the kid didnt something that worthy of being shunned? no, but he deserves a penalty and i believe he will have one coming. lets put it this way he has already used up strike 1 and everyone knows it. usually they keep strike 1 under raps a little more but since he isnt with the team yet they cant.

I wonder if some of the dudes here will admit to using pot on a public forum. After all it is only weed, dudes. I imagine these same dudes will tell their teenage children that there is nothing wrong smoking pot.

"It is just like jaywalking, son. Go ahead. You have my blessings." I can just picture some dude telling his children this.

Party on , dudes.

I'll have the same conversation with my kid about pot as I do about alcohol.

I want my kids to know there's a difference between marijuana and harder drugs. The reason marijuana is thought of as a gateway drug is kids are taught that all drugs are equally bad, so when they smoke pot and realize it's no big deal they just assume it's all a lie and cocaine must not be that bad either.

Between 10 and 30% of marijuana users will develop a dependency.

To compare.

97% of women and 68% of men develop a dependency to sugar

Please show this to above idiot who accuses me of knowing nothing about drugs because I say pot is not addictive. 10 -30% but there are no studies to prove any physical addiction they don't exist. Please before you accuse someone of not knowing something do a little research on the subject those of you banging the gong for prohibition only are prolonging and even making the probelm worse. More H.S. schools kids now smoke pot than cigeretes it's true it has been proven prohibitionist are losing the battle and worse who knows what kind of pot it is has it been compromised some how is it being laced with an addictive substance. Every study you will find till tell you tobacco products are highly addictive and known to KILL you, yet you let society reason to you that somehow it is better for you that pot (again not addictive physically) what kind of reasoning is this. I do not do drugs other than caffine, alchohol occasionally, so I do not have a vested interest in this. Let me ask you this question have you known anybody with a brain tumor who only got any kind of relief from the pain and had some sort of appetite with pot? I can answer that question for you if you are a prohibitionist that would be a NO. This kid 20 years old knew he was going to die and was suffering miserably, have you seen what morphine does to someone ( talk about addictive and deadly) and pot helped him. Before anyone makes accusations of a fellow poster not knowing something measure your opinions vs FACTS. The stigma of pot goes back to the 50's where it was deamonised see absenthe if you need another example of Social distortion when it comes to drugs. I could go on and on but hopefully the prohibitionists we stop ad let common sense and reasoning effect their thought processes from now on rather that historical nonsensical rhetoric. KNOWN FACT, SUGAR AND CAFFINE WILL KILL YOU LONG BEFORE POT SO KEEP DRIKING THAT SODA AND ENERGY DRINKS.

Stop and read the entire post you may learn something.

10-30% addiction is still addictive. i dont think it should necessarily be illegal and i have never done it. but right now it is illegal and therefore he will have a punishment. simple context of just because you think something is ok doesnt mean it is acceptable to break the law just because you dont agree with the law. say it was legal at age 21 like drinking. well we have players that get in trouble for that and serve punishment. so he would at least deserve a similar punishment.

hawkcrush is straight up crushing people

Bwahaha. Oh man you'll be the parent who blames everyone else. Ive realized a lot of small town folks are like this. Not experiencing the real world and understanding that poor decisions have consequences. It is pure comedy you think this is all about weed. Carry on...

Isnt that a pretty bold leap.....and quite frankly, this aint a small town thing. Ive lived every where and the percentage of people lacking accountability is prevelant everywhere and no place is it more obvious than on these message baords....yet I dont get the impression Stormin Norm is that guy....

Just my opinion....

I am not condoning his use of pot but I just read on yahoo that a CDC report says that 18% of teenagers have t'used tobacco in the last 30 days, which is a downward trend. However 23% had used pot in the last 30 days.

Once again I am not excusing his actions but to label him worse than the other kids is not accurate either.

Sure, it is everywhere, you are correct. Higher degree in small towns. This is why many stay in small towns..they would end up flipping burgers in larger cities.

It is just weed to spank, however, many large companies still conduct drug testing. But hey, just like a speeding ticket, right? Just the same to companies hiring too, right? Lol. These people have little to no shot in the real world if they cant grasp it.

Sorry Dex. If someone thinks a speeding ticket and drug arrest are viewed equally in the real world, they havent ventured out much. That is not reality.

The same for the guy comparing caffeine and weed. Yep, viewed exactly the same. Lol.

As I said long ago Garmon will likely learn from this and be a great student/athlete at Iowa. He made a very poor choice but cant change that now. Thankfully, unlike a few here, GG will take ownership and not blame something else. I doubt he told Kirk that it is no big deal and just like having a cup of soda.

when did this become an argument about whether weed should be legal or not? that argument has no bearing on this situation because, as of right now, weed is ILLEGAL. just like drinking under 21 is illegal. just because several people do it and break the same law doesn't make it "okay". Garmon should and will be punished and then hopefully move on and learn from his mistakes.

to the "it should be legal" argument, i don't disagree with you. could bring a lot of extra money into this country. however, as someone mentioned earlier, there's no test that can be administered to show whether someone is currently under the influence of weed. until that happens, i don't feel weed should be legalized.

Lol, you can always rely on message boards to state the exact opposite of reality.

Brother I’m sorry but this isn’t true…at one time I may have agreed with you, but I lived in Columbia Missouri for 9 months, the suburbs of Chicago for a year and a half and now live about an hr from down town Chicago in a Tri-city of 100K or so. If you think there are more of those people in the small towns then you are just as sheltered as the people you are chastising.

Furthermore when interviewing I don’t think you can even ask people about their drug use and quite frankly if we think a guy smokes, but can do the job, we will hire him anyway and we aren’t that unusual.

And you are extrapolating a great deal from people’s comments if you think they are suggesting GG will blame someone else or they think he should or that it’s ok. That’s not what they are saying.

Good because we really want to hear what the ******* who brags about driving around drunk and high thinks......
