pitchers in the portal

It seems 3-4 pitchers have entered the portal since the end of the season.

Anybody know why?

The pitching did seem to let them down in the stretch but that's not the calling card to make other teams want you. Is there something else a foot I'm not aware of?

Anthony Watts was one of the pitchers that entered the portal, then withdrew from the portal, then got drafted in the 14th round by the Cardinals and today signed a pro contract with them.

Congrats, Anthony, and bye bye Hawkeyes.......

He has already reported to Palm Beach Gardens in Florida with the other rookies.
