Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

Baylor over Kansas, Kentucky over Florida, Tennessee over Florida, Virginia over Duke

Good job. Now how are their bad losses compared to ours? Or do they have other good wins too? I'm seriously asking I'm not being a jerk or anything.

I don't know if this has been posted or talked about elsewhere..but Lunardi's chat today didn't have any positivity for Iowa either. There were 3 or 4 questions in relation to Iowa and the bubble. Joe thinks Iowa needs to make the title game to get in and had nothing to say that would make any Iowa fan feel good about our chances of reaching the dance, even if we beat Sparty. It's frustrating to be in this situation and while all our hopes are still there it just doesn't seem destined to happen this year. With all the tough losses, the blown lead at Nebraska, all of these people saying we won't get in..even if we beat a great Michigan State team on a neutral court..I'm reserved with my optimism going into the the conference tourney. I will cheer my heart out..but at the end of the day, we put ourselves in this situation with the loss to Nebraska and the blown leads. If we don't get in with 2 wins in the BTT..it's still our fault..not the committees, Seth Davis or anyone else.

Baylor and Virginia have some bad losses. Baylor lost at home to Northwestern and Virginia lost to Old Dominion (5-25 with an RPI of 318)

For some reason, it doesn't seem like the bad losses are coming up much this year. Virginia's loss to Old Dominion should really be a resume killer.

There is no way Iowa makes the big tourny, but that does not take away from this being a huge positive step for the entire basketball program. I have no insider knowledge or even watch that much basketball but this is not a team deserving of an NCAA Tournament birth. I also wont even just because I am an Iowa fan dream any such notion they win the BoneG Tourny because thats not going to happen. Heck of a season compared to the last decade there is a lot to look forward to with Fran for sure.

What Lunardi said really isn't all that different than what's been said here. Win three, and we're in. If we only beat MSU, then we're going to need a lot of help with other bubbles getting burst.

Thanks.

Exactly correct. Beating Sparty will open some eyes..but if we turn around and get beat Saturday, everyone says "Well, Iowa lost again." If we win Saturday, we play Indiana 3 hours before the selection show. We would lose that game, but getting past MSU and probably OSU "EARNS" a spot in the dance. Without question. That's where Seth Davis needs to be smarter about the words that come out of his mouth. Another thing..I don't expect any of what I wrote to happen unfortunately. MSU and Izzo are mentally stronger and just darn right better come this time of year..I don't care what happened back at Carver in January and who didn't play in that game

MSU has their eyes set on the big prize. They are beatable in the Big Ten tourney.

Also, I too am tired of the Lunardi's and Davis's of the world basically saying Iowa can take a flying leap. Really they are saying nothing short of winning the Big Ten tourney will save them. I just don't buy it that Iowa has to make a colossal run to make the Dance, while other bubble teams simply need to not poop their pants.

And Minnesota Goofers take note: you can laugh all you want but remember that shellacking Iowa gave you a few weeks ago, and the fact they finished in the top 1/2 of the conference, trending up, and you finished in the bottom half, trending down. FACT

I would say if Iowa beats MSU in the 2nd round, game over you guys are in. Now I do not think you guys can beat MSU though.

Why are you even on Hawk Nation reading hawkeye stuff? your post is definitely from a non-hawk beliver. Is it that bad on cylcone fanatic?

According to rpi forecast if Iowa goes 2-1 in the BTT it will give them an RPI of 60, with the other rankings being even better I cannot imagine Iowa being left out.

My prediction right now is that Indiana does not make it past the sweet 16!
I agree. I have never been a believer in Indiana. While they played UNC, Georgetown, and Butler, who else did they play? All their games were either neutral sites or at home and none of the names popped out at me as being all that good.

BUT when it comes to the brackets, I'm not sure I'll pick against them.

GO HAWKS!!!

Get ready for the we won at Baylor and Kansas couldn't even do that line...

Playing at Baylor in front of 1500 fans shouldn't even count as a road win.. In fact, playing at TCU, Texas Tech, and even Texas (sometimes) is like playing games at a morgue.

By the way, 11th place Northwestern of the BIG won AT Baylor too. The fact that Baylor is even being mentioned as a bubble team is mind boggling.

The BIG was 8-1 against the Big 12 this year. A good share of the games were routs. I can't even believe ISU fans are on this board, giving us reasons why Iowa won't get in..
ISU was no better than a 9 or 10 seed in the BIG this year.

Losing to Northwestern at home should totally cancel out the win against Kansas. Kansas should lose their projected #1 seed with the loss at Baylor. They suck.

Are you serious?

They swept MSU and Michigan and won at OSU.

I don't necessarily agree with this but guys like Seth Davis do have the jobs they have and we all have the jobs we have for a reason. We can definitely question their opinions but one thing that we can't really question is their access to information and sources that we don't have.

Are you serious?
Seth Davis has no more access to information than any of us. Name me a source of information that he has and we don't..
Hell, he probably doesn't watch any more BB than many of us do.
Where did he play Basketball again?
Where did he coach?

No, that wouldn't make sense either.

Yes I'm serious .. and I apologize as I should have qualified my statement by saying "... who else did they play in the noncon portion of their schedule?"

But in addition to what you say, they also lost to Wis and OSU AT HOME and to Ill and Minn.

So .. no. I'm NOT impressed with Indiana.

GO HAWKS!!!

Well then who are you impressed with this year?

I think there are legitimately 8-10 teams that could win the whole thing and Indiana is at or near the top of the list.
