Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

So essentially Iowa has to beat a bunch of Top 10 teams in a row to get in. Meanwhile the crappy SEC bubblers can back their way in with equal to worse resumes than Iowa? What is with all the anti Iowa talk out there? Gopher and Ill fans laughing at us about not getting in? Heck we beat those clowns 2 out of 3 (should have been 3) and both suck right now. Laugh all you want Iowa placed in the upper 1/2 of the Big Ten and you did not.

The one issue that I see is Iowa only had 1 road win in conference play and that was at NW all the quality wins up to today are at home. I think the committee sees quality road wins as huge factor.

I do agree if they make the finals they will get a hard look.

Who did the Clowns beat on the road again?

Seth Davis @SethDavisHoops

Wouldn't be a bad loss. Should still be in. RT @SoLongGabeBoise: What are the odds Boise gets in if they lose to SDSU tomorrow?

So Boise State in but Iowa out. Does Seth Davis know we are talking basketball not football?

Wish I knew, but I keep hearing more and more media say this. It blows my mind how anyone with basketball knowledge can think Iowa can upset 10th ranked Michigan State, finish 11-10 against conference opponents, win 22 games overall, and be left OUT of the tournament.

Its Seth Davis who is a butt buddy of Alford.

I wouldnt put too much stock into it.

"Probably have to win it" is not right.

Iowa would have quality wins over: Wisconsin (44), Minnesota (23), Illinois (39), Iowa State (49), Michigan State (7), Ohio State (14)
Bad Losses: Virginia Tech (175), Nebraska (103), Purdue (112)

Absolutely no way Iowa is left off the card if they get into the finals. They certainly do not have to win it.
A 23-12 (12-10 conf) team with 6 Top 50 RPI wins (and a likely Top 50 RPI at that point) is a lock.
Just reaching the finals will get Iowa in. Getting to the semis and they are on the bubble.
No, Seth, they don't have to win it.

I might be missing something here, but it seems like the "pundits" don't want Iowa in. Hear me out. Everyone penciled in both Illinois and Minny because they both beat Indiana and had good non con records. However, Iowa has turned out to be a better team, in my opinion, than both. It seems as though people don't want 8 BIG teams in the dance and since both Illinios and Minny beat Indiana, it wouldn't look good for one of them NOT to be in the dance. I don't know, but Iowa is getting NO credit for playing very consistently on the road in the BIG (albeit losing) with such a young and inexperienced team. It seems like a concerted effort to keep Iowa out because "they" don't want 8 BIG teams in.

Yep. He can sit there on CBS all day long with that little $h!t eating grin of his and say that Iowa doesn't belong, but I don't give a rip. If he thinks Iowa has to do 4-in-4 to make the dance, he is simply wrong. I'll eat my words if Iowa makes the BTT final and loses, and still ends up in the NIT despite 23 wins, and wins over MSU and OSU on top of the four Top 50 wins we already have. I just can't envision such a ludicrous thing.

The only opinion I really care about is that of the selection committee. Let's hope Seth Davis isn't on it.

For some reason, even after beating both supposed NCAA participants, Illinois and Minnesota and getting revenge against Nebraska, the "experts" seem to think we're getting further away from being worthy of inclusion, while other bubble teams, who have done nothing, seem to be getting closer.

I don't necessarily agree with this but guys like Seth Davis do have the jobs they have and we all have the jobs we have for a reason. We can definitely question their opinions but one thing that we can't really question is their access to information and sources that we don't have.

While that's true, they get it wrong, too.

They definitely miss. But while we have guys named WindsorHawk and ssckelley telling us what can and can't happen Seth Davis is talking to current and former D1 coaches, professional bracketologists, former Selection committee members, and possibly even current committee members. Everyone has an agenda but at this late point in the game these guys would probably prefer to be right than to further their agendas.

Seth Davis is an idiot. If we get to the finals and lose, our RPI gets much better and we will have beaten two top ten teams and lost to probably the number one team in the country in the last week of the season. Our record over the last 12 will be 9-3 or whatever with two of those loses to arguably the best team in the country. If that doesn't get you in the dance, then the selection committee is on crack. None of these other teams on the bubble is playing that type of schedule. How you are playing at the end of the year should matter a hell of a lot more than how good you were the first two weeks of the season...I know, it doesn't, but goddamit it should.

So you believe Davis but dont believe someone like Gottlieb? You seem to pick and choose your "professionals" to suit your needs. Last I checked, Gottlieb was actually playing at a high major level 15 years ago, where was Seth?
