Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

I don't discredit Gottlieb any more or less than anyone else, but when the vast majority of the talking heads are saying one thing and its Doug Gottlieb saying the other, I know which way I'm going.

While Doug Gottlieb was playing, Seth Davis was doing the same thing he's doing now, so not sure what you're getting at? If we were figuring out who is better at basketball I'd go with Doug, but what does that have to do with anything?

Gottlieb is a bit crass sometimes, but he knows his stuff.

Others have mentioned it, but for some of us that don't frequent the RPI sites

Iowa
Final Record W-L pctg. Expected RPI Probability
24-11 68.57% 32.1 1.71%
23-12 65.71% 49.6 6.59%
22-12 64.71% 60.1 15.95%
21-12 63.64% 72.3 60.57%
20-12 62.50% 92.2 15.18%

there isnt a bias against iowa per se, but i think there might be a bias against getting 8 big ten teams in.

Well then who are you impressed with this year?

I think there are legitimately 8-10 teams that could win the whole thing and Indiana is at or near the top of the list.
Duke, Louisville, Miami .. ..

I'm not saying I don't think Indiana is a Top 10 team. Just that I have not been impressed with them. Maybe it's the entire basketball season. I just haven't been that impressed with anybody, with the possible exception of Duke (w/Kelly). But even they have fallen flat a couple of times.

My selections will depend on how the brackets fall and what the potential matchups will be.

GO HAWKS!!!

This is why I keep arguing Iowa is in the tournament if they beat MSU. MSU is currently ranked 7th in the RPI, beating them would vault Iowa to the low 60's, possibly even high 50s, and that should be enough to get Iowa in.

I agree. A team with 22 wins from the best conference in the country with an RPI of 60 is in. End of story.

So you're not impressed with Indiana, but you're impressed with Miami? The same Miami team who has recently lost to Ga Tech and Wake Forest and had plenty of other narrow victories over other crappy ACC schools?

LOL at Seth Davis. How is it that Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee and Baylor are still considered more in than we are? ******* rediculous.

And I should ignore Indiana's losses to "crappy" Illinois and Minnesota?

Yes. As I posted in another thread, maybe it's Crean that is clouding my judgement. But I won't apologize for what I think is an over-rated Indiana team.

GO HAWKS!!!

Crappy Illinois and Minnesota are both still tournament teams. Wake Forest, 13-17, and Georgia Tech, 16-14, are just bad.

Sorry, I have to disagree with you here as well. Minnesota is NOT a tournament team. They might get in on the strength of their early season success, but they are a crappy team right now.

GO HAWKS!!!

Miami lost to Florida Gulf Coast and Indiana State in their pre-season schedule.
Indiana lost only in OT to a very good Butler team in their pre-season schedule.
Indiana was the outright champion in a better league than the ACC.
Indiana over rated? Funny...

Are you serious?
Seth Davis has no more access to information than any of us. Name me a source of information that he has and we don't..
Hell, he probably doesn't watch any more BB than many of us do.
Where did he play Basketball again?
Where did he coach?

Yep, I was wrong, you are right and your post above is spot on.
