Iowa worst team in Big Ten?

I'm not sure UW has better "talent". They have a system they run pretty well which slows other teams down, but I'm not sure they have better overall "talent".

You can't be serious

2016-17 PRESEASON BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Nigel Hayes, Wisconsin

2016-17 PRESEASON ALL-BIG TEN TEAM
Malcolm Hill, G, Illinois
James Blackmon Jr., G, Indiana
Thomas Bryant, C, Indiana
Peter Jok, G, Iowa
Melo Trimble, G, Maryland
Derrick Walton Jr., G, Michigan
Caleb Swanigan, F, Purdue
Ethan Happ, F, Wisconsin
NIGEL HAYES, F, Wisconsin
Bronson Koenig, F, Wisconsin

We're better than Nebraska, Penn State and Rutgers for sure. Maybe Illinois too?

I'll bet you we finish better than 11th place. Basically that is what you are saying, that we are only better than 3 teams, and you don't know if we are better than another team.

If you wanna name the terms, go ahead, otherwise I got a good idea for a bet for you and me to have.

there's something crazy about this list of players with little exception.

I think we finish between 9th and 11th. I could see us finishing ahead of Illinois and Minnesota along with Rutgers, Nebraska and Penn State. We have a pretty favorable conference schedule. I think there are at least 7 teams that have more talent than us and that's not counting experience, that's just speaking to basketball talent.

Where would you rank us in the Big Ten

I think the confusion lies with experience vs talent and is difficult to measure. Did a team win because of talent vs experience vs a system. It's hard to measure. I get what you are saying but you are measuring Iowa's talent based on results or potential results.

To answer your question I would put Iowa mid pack from what I've seen and a chance to play up if play above expectations this year. I see them between 6-9 I guess. Maybe it's a pipe dream. Who knows.

Nigel Hayes, Bronson Koenig, and Ethan Happ are all 1st Team all big ten type talents. Obviously they all three won't make it but their talent level IMO is above Iowa's.

UW historically was good based on their system and IMO some home cooking. In the last 5 years or so, they've had some real talent.

Wow, you must watch a lot more BB than me if you know how much "talent" that say a Minnesota, Rutgers, Penn St. and other have. Heck I have watched some of each of them play, but not nearly as much to quote how much "talent" any of them have.

If we are only "better" than 3 teams, how in the world can we finish 9th in the B1G? Makes no sense at all really.....but then again most of your trolls don't make any sense.

Then why we going to be an NIT team with losses to Omaha and Memphis?

Because Moss will contribute much more as the season goes on than he did before when we had those losses when he wasn't contributing and Cook and Pemsl with both be playing at a high level at the same time when it was just Cook before he was injured or just Pemsl after Cook was hurt.

The bad losses came when this team hadn't demonstrated that they knew how to play defense.

With all of these things being different now than what they were when we took bad losses, we could play 500 ball in the B10 and in most years that would get us in the big dance because we would have maybe had two non-conference losses. With the amount of non-con losses this year, and who they were against, we will have to win the BTT in order to get in because we won't go 12-6 in conference, and that might not even get us in if we did that.

That is why we would be an NIT team with the kind of talent some here say we have but that you dispute. It isn't that hard to make the case, really.

I watch a lot of Big Ten basketball. That Minnesota vs Izzo game last night was insane, especially how the officials called it. I think right now we're only better than 3 teams but wouldn't be surprised if we finish ahead of 4 of 5 teams, especially with our schedule. We get Rutgers, Nebraska and Illinois twice plus Penn State at home which should be 5 wins mimumin right there

Do you think Minny is formidable this year then? I haven't watched them. Are they guard oriented or do they have inside game?

Who will Iowa finish ahead of because they have an easier schedule?

OK I'll list the top half of the Big Ten in my opinion. Others can let me know if they agree or disagree

1. Indiana
2. Purdue
3. Wisconsin
4. Michigan State
5. Ohio State
6. Maryland
7. Michigan

Then you probably have Illinois, us and Northwestern fighting for 8-10

road games @ IL and Nebraska are not gimmes for any team- not sure how much B1G basketball you watch.

I didn't even want to go there. Says he watches a lot of BB and then just assumes winning conference road games are a given.....LOLOL.

I said 5 games minimum which would be Rutgers at home and on the road, Illinois at home, Nebraska at home and Penn State at home.

We'll see. Again, they run a very specific system. I can't wait to see Iowa go up against them. Not saying Iowa will win but interested in the clash of styles.

That's close to what I was thinking. Purdue always seems to be overrated but they have some senior studs this year. I'm not sold on Mich St. for some reason this year but Izzo always seems to get them stronger by the end and tourney ready. I don't know anything about Ohio St this year. I know Maryland is down which you have. Not sure about Michigan either.

I agree we will be battling with the likes of NW any the Minny's of the world.

LOLOL can you count? 4 home wins and 1 road win at Rutgers

If we only win 5 games, that will put us about 12th place. Why do you think we will climb up to 9th place? That will probably take 8 wins to do so.

It is funny how you hedged your bet after saying we are only better than 3 teams.......then you make the who we play excuse. What are the other teams schedules, and how do you know them?
