Purdue is much better than last year. They are currently shooting 41% as a team from 3 pt. range, and with the inside games of Haas and Swanigan, they are going to be a tough out come NCAA tournament time.

If we keep playing that zone it's going to happen a lot. Maybe not 10-17 but players at this level will usually make at least half of their uncontested 3's

In addition, zones also can create a rebounding dilemma, so if/when they do miss, they have chances at O rebounds. Teams have to be very disciplined playing zone. This team is not there yet.
It's going to take a heck of a coaching job because of the make up of our roster. We have a bunch of 4's and no PG

Games like that happen all the time in basketball regardless of age. I don't get how people care enough about sports to post on a message board, but know so little that they think games like this are uncommon, or something is wrong with a team when it happens to them.

If u follow you eould know it happens to Fran quite a bit. 20 point losses happen. Total dismantling in all phases is another.

Tom Davis's teams lost by 20, even ones that made the NCAA's
Fast paced teams probably lose more games by 20 plus than slow paced teams. Do you know how ugly it would have to be for a Lick team to lose by 20. The last 3 years, there was probably around 3 or 4 games like that. That's not very many.
They shot the lights out and has one of the fastest 20 point leads I've ever seen. After that it was a back and forth game for 30 minutes. Do you think they let up after last year? Or was it just hard to sustain that level of shooting for long?
One thing with this team is when the other team gets going, they score a bunch in a hurry. Memphis, Omaha, Notre Dame, Purdue, they all went on huge runs they had no business going on and it cost us. That's what happens when you have a young team that plays fast. Things can snowball in a hurry.

This team has improved no doubt. To get beat by 20 by having the other team score 6 or 7 more baskets and a handful of free throws, not a big deal. What you didn't see out of Davis was a team that was totally annihilated in most all aspects of the game. You can lose by 20 by not shooting well or not rebounding well. This team was beaten in most all aspects. That is the major concern. I also hold that most good teams are going to shoot the lights out when wide open. That is what separates many high school players from top D1 players. D1 players have shot so many shots. Yes for sure some of it is age. So many of you don't want to face the fact. Iowa has several players that wouldn't start for upper conference teams or even get much playing time as they are now. Experience will help. Experience won't make a point guard play much faster. It is that lack of speed at point that sets the stage for both offense and defense. A non quick defending point puts the rest of the D already a tick behind the offense.

Not sure which was worse, Losing by 20 when good teams exploited Mr. Davis's press time and time again for easy lay-ups, or Lick's teams having little offensive skill to be able to score more than 50 points. Pick you poison I guess.
We play Penn State at home last game of year and Rutgers home and home and Nebraska home and home. I hope we win 3 of those games and upset someone at home and on the road for 5 wins in the conference and 13 for the year. We will finish in 13th or last place.
Iowa needs to play inspired defense every night or they will have double digit losses all season. Iowa doesn't have a center or a Big 10 ready point guard.

You're entitled to your opinion, IMO - we are seeing the core of a group that's gonna go to 3 NCAA's that has more over all ceiling and potential than the last group that just went to 3 NCAA's.
