Iowa worst team in Big Ten?

Top 5 in the B1G in assist as a freshman so far - playing pretty well for a kid who just got thrust in minutes.

Mike set the record for most assists in a season and was very good defensively and lots of people we'd be better at the PG position this year

No he's not and he's not even close if you talk about complete game including defense. Why don't you just list the top teams in the Big Ten according to talent instead of dodging the question

This post cracks me up. He isn't even close to most talented because he didn't play good defense in the first handful of games his freshmen year?

yeah man - if they don't come out of the gates playing All B1G D like Mike G did then honestly, they are never gonna get it. They can't be taught any more than what they knew in highschool and are at their absolute peak several games into their college careers with absolutely NO room for improvement.

Just think of all the stud athlete, lock down defenders Iowa had as freshmen over the last 20 years to make Cook not even close. Of the top of my head, I can list zero of them.

what's wrong with being an NIT team?

According to you we have the most talented player in decades under Cook, are getting great PG play by Bohannon and have one of the more talented teams in the Big Ten led by a senior guard and we're not going to make the NCAA tournament. That sounds like underperforming to me

If you guys think 56 Errrrrr CyTwins has his troll on now, just wait until we lose to Purdue.......

If only players could develop over time ... i can't even think of 1 player who got better under Fran.... it would take too much time to even try and come up with a name. All the guy's Fran has brought in where already good the minute they stepped on the floor like White, Marble, Uthoff, Jok - all of them never got better at college basketball sad to say and it's not possible for any of these guys to really develop either and we are just void of talent at Iowa.

Oh Jesus you think we're in the top half of the Big 10 in terms of talent too? You need to lay off the koolaid I can tell you're smarter than that when you want to be

Who says I said this?

How do you define talent? Do you define it by their recruiting rankings? If so every last player in the B1G was ranked higher than Pete Jok. I think Pete is a top 5 B1G player, but you probably only define him as a "Drake level recruit".

Same with Baer, heck he is a walkon, so every last player in the B1G is better than him......

I mean how do you define "talent" Twins, do you do it by recruiting rankings from 5 years ago for say a Pete Jok, and where that class ranked? Or do you say well Pete Jok is one of the top most talented players in the B1G?

I think Northwestern could make the tournament this year.

I think that is one of the most difficult things to wrap my brain around. How has a team NEVER been to the NCAA tourney, EVER?? That's really hard to do. Really think about that. That's astonishing. NE.........VER.

I think Pete is a top 3 B1G player. You said I was trolling by saying we're not top half of the Big Ten in terms of talent so I'm surprised you disagree with me

and every season i hear "this could be Northwestern's year" I'll take more of a wait and see approach.

Well I guess that's what some experts/computers think. I think I read our RPI at 168 with the next worst Rutgers 102. Losing at home to Omaha does wonders for you RPI. I guess I still think this team will finish in the upper half of the second division, but will be playing better than that at year end. Teams with size and ability inside (Purdue) should give us fits.
with that said I am still more optimistic for the future than I was 3 weeks ago and I think there will be some interesting games to be played this year

The RPI is going up (down?) 50 points after we knock off Purdue tonight.

Outside of UW, Purdue, & Indiana I don't think anyone in the Big10 has head and shoulders better talent than us. Remember we have a potential player of the year candidate. I think our bench is probably one of the better in benches in the league.

A lot of these games will come down to matchups, hot/cold shooting nights, and home court advantage.

I'm not sure UW has better "talent". They have a system they run pretty well which slows other teams down, but I'm not sure they have better overall "talent".
