Bad Day for Da Haters

I thought that movie sucked. Bad Boys was funny enough, but starting with The Rock everything Michael Bay did got progressively worse. Which is impressive considering the number of movies he's directed.

Uh... Transformers says, what you talking about Willis.

Then Armageddon, Bad Boys 2, Pearl Harbor, and Pain & Gain are all laughing to the bank as well.

I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that action movies are not your bag.

P.S. I bet that 6 Undeground is also good and another box office success.

We beat Iowa of the SEC. We were mirrored opponents. Both had stout defenses, but inept offenses and that’s exactly how it played. Iowa nearly always plays well when they are playing a one dimensional team like this as everything is put on the shoulders of the defense. The only thing kf lacks is a dominant punter as he loves playing the old electronic football game field position battle. The 8 penalties for 90 yards to zero Iowa penalties was a major advantage. Miss St had a td called back and had a guy called down at the 1 and they proceeded to settle for a field goal. Both significant turning points. Outside the easley seam route, we had 125 yards of offense folks as kirk stubbornly played phone booth football with them until they all but begged us to throw to the walk on. Luckily, their coach was every bit the “aw shucks” that kirk is and we did just enough to win. For the 100th time, kudos to the Iowa defense for bailing everyone out. Not sure gervase is the hero everyone wants to make of him as left a wide open receiver in the end zone while he guarded the end line but he did a good job of putting his hands up to keep the deflected pass from sticking in his facemask. Here’s to 2019 when we attempt to beat more than one p5 team with a winning record during the regular season while staving off the mighty clowns that look all the part as being ready to finally lay claim to the state for a while. In my opinion, if our offensive issues aren’t addressed for real, we aren’t going to like that series in the coming yrs.

The comparison only work for the last year or two where the two teams have similar records and both strong defenses with below average offenses . Beyond that the comparisons are pretty superficial at best.

Over the last 19 years, not much in common. From 1999 to now, Iowa has a winning percentage of .60 or 152 wins and 101 losses. Over the same span Mississippi State has a .51 winning percentage with 125 wins and 122 losses. That would put Mississippi State closer to Minnesota or Maryland than Iowa. The team with the closest winning percentage to Iowa would be Tennessee with a .59 winning percentage.

And your bitching about bitching, I loved the win, I loved the game, I still don't love Kirk, but I love Iowa! This whole your a "hater" if you have an opinion contrary to yours is a crock of shit! I bleed black and gold but I can still think for myself.

Who said you are Da Hater if you have an opinion contrary of mine? Do you think that I am talking about you when I talk about Da Haters?

That was the #1 defense in the country that Iowa scored 3 touchdowns against. You also fail to acknowledge the 16 points Iowa gave them on the botched punt and 2 turnovers to start the 2nd half.

Yes Iowa has some lucky bounces, but so did they. I recall an interception that hit, I think, Gervase in the hands.

Iowa defeated a damn good SEC team.

Like Iowa they are a mostly damn good team with unusually highly glaring weaknesses. They are in respects very similar. A real challenge yet embarrasing to loose to.

No, not even close. Ask anyone, I"m an "apologist".

Not sure if you are a slippery snake or an unherdable kitten.... are you a Fran Hater or apologist By your own standards you get to pick only one of those two. Which is it?

Heck even over the last 4 years Iowa is averaging a win more per year (37 vs 32). Also don't give me that they play a tougher schedule crap. Over the last 4 years Miss. St. has played 36 P5 teams (counting bowl games), Iowa has played 45 P5 teams (counting bowl games and B1G CG).

I think we can do better easily do better than Fran as the head coach of Iowa. I don't waste my time bashing him 24/7 on here.

Listen I get that some people don't like KF, that isn't the issue, and you know it. I have called for KF firing in years past. It is the people who are non stop negative 24/7 about everything about the coach, ass. coaches and players in the program. So much so that even when Iowa wins they are bitching.

What's the benefit to downplaying this win? I just don't get it, they beat a ranked SEC team that had the #1 defense in the country and I'm seeing Iowa "fans" bashing this win. Does it give you pleasure to make others feel like shit in a friggin Bowl WIN?

I get all of us having different perspectives and all but some of you half-glass-empty people are starting to annoy the crap out of me. IOWA WON, is it ok for us half-glass-full folks to enjoy this win a little? There are no points being awarded on here for being a more "realist", and having a negative outlook doesn't make you any more of a realist than those of us that are enjoying the win.

I know saying all of this won't change anything, but it felt good. Carry on I guess.

Personally, I just try to be grateful in life.
You have an excellent post. Almost as good as the girl in the bikini post in another thread. Almost. :)
Some people could find something to bitch about lying next to her, ya know?

there is a lot of haters and negative posters on this site....It sucked the way the 1st quarter went and I was bitching like everyone else was...but I have never posted anything negative. Win 1 or 100 I am always in. Sometimes we are just good enough to break hearts...

Seriously? Win just one and your fine with that? Now if your saying that you enjoy every game we win then I am ok with that. I didn’t think we would win this game before kickoff and I am happy we did. I was cheering for he kids and the coaches the whole game.

All I would ask for is that just once in my lifetime to see the Iowa football program win one National Championship. Then they could keep Kirk around all they want. After twenty seasons it is apparent that he will never achieve that and I would like to see any changes made that at least gives us a chance to achieve that hope and dream.

I am sure many of the players love Kirk after all many of them likely would not have played in the Big Ten if Kirk’s coaching staff didn’t give them a chance.

I like Kirks apparent value system as it teaches these young men things (dependability, devotion, hard work, perseverance, community, family) they will be able to apply to their lives that if followed will bless them and the people around them. As a father of three I teach these same things to my family. As bad if time as I give Kirk I have always liked that part about how he approaches his coaching posituon.

I wouldn’t want to win a title if the coach is a dirtbag as that would take the enjoyment out of it. I would want it done the right way too. It’s just hard to accept that it will never happen from the current coaching staff and be happy with it. Twenty years is the proof. I wish that he could do it. A good coach with a good heart and a National Championship. That would be like the old beer commercial that says “It don’t get no better than this!!!”

I’m not afraid to say it but the odds of Iowa winning a National Championship in football in my lifetime, is SLIM AND NONE.. If they do I will be the happiest man on the planet, along with many others on this board..

We are pretty much always just 1 star QB away from actually playing for a National Championship.

Brad, Ricky, and CJ all got very very close. None were bonafide stars as hindsight has been kind enough to establish. I guess we are still looking and waiting for that guy. That future Payton Manning guy. If we get him before Ferentz hangs it up, I could see us at least making the playoffs. I really don't know how we will ever beat an Alabama team though. Pray that someone else takes them out before we have to play them I guess.

I thought Iowa would either win/lose a low scoring game or Iowa would get blown out. I was wrong on both, but I doubt anyone foresaw Iowa hanging 3 touchdowns on a team that only gave up 3 touchdowns to Alabama. I don't think anyone believed Iowa would THROW 3 touchdowns against a team that only gave up 4 passing TD's all year.

Looking at the box score is really f'ing weird. -15 rushing yards, 1 for 11 on 3rd downs, under 200 yards of offense, Iowa lost the time of possession battle, gave up nearly 200 yards on the ground. Take away the Easley 75 yard touchdown and Iowa has 125 yards of offense on the day. None of that spells successful football.

Also, looking at the scoring drives by both teams is really weird too...
1 play 75 yards
2 plays 13 yards
3 plays 6 yards
1 play 33 yards
6 plays 32 yards

Just a weird game all around.

Yes weird. 20 some point sub 200 yards.
