This is how the flat earth debate podcast went. Each one had their sources, and the other guy's sources weren't credible.

You know nothing unless you see it first hand. So the only people you can believe are the ones that are telling you that everyone else is lying to you.

No functioning society could be built like this. So luckily these guys are a minority.

And the "have to see it first hand" people are generally an experts in nothing. Because if they were, they would immediately see how in their own field, non-experts would just have to trust them.

Accurate statements are often combined with flawed logic. (re: flat earthers and most politicians). If you want to get real deep, I guess we can really never "know" anything, but of course we have to agree as best we can using a validated body of knowledge and science. The more evidence you have of something the more reasonable it is to perceive it as factual. Who gets to define and validate that evidence is key (something that history has shown us can be manipulated).

Occam's razor is often valid...most people just forget the caveat "all things being equal" (to use simple terms). That's the rub, there sometimes ARE confounding variables which may not be obvious. That doesn't mean they don't exist or exert a force. Science...is all about the investigation and discovery of such variables. That's why it's never "settled", only best working theory.

"Imperial College scientist who predicted 500K coronavirus deaths in UK revises to 20K or fewer"
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...ronavirus-deaths-in-uk-revises-to-20k-or-less

Ferguson credited the U.K.’s lockdown for stopping the spread of the virus, but as Berenson points out, the country “only began its lockdown 2 days ago, and the theory is that lockdowns take 2 weeks or more to work.”

So by taking this epidemic very seriously, he thinks they will greatly reduce the number of deaths?

Is your next post TK going to be about now we shouldn't take this seriously anymore?

I listened to a Joe Rogan podcast, where he debates a person who believes the world is flat.

It went for an HOUR, and they made no progress.

Thanks for that one..... my god that guy is an idiot. His theory is that NASS lied in the 60s so every single scientist from every single country for the rest of history can't be trusted.

Kinda like now days. Everyone knows the government does some shady shit. But some people think that is proof that every single government from every single country can somehow band together for some sinister plan. Even tho the 2 parties in our country can't agree on a single thing.

What sucks is that after 10 mins, you figure they have to come to some break through with this guy. He will eventually see how crazy he's being.

These are his friends talking to him.

You just keep waiting for it... But no, he hangs on for the entire 60 minutes.

People who believe the earth is round and not flat have never traveled I-80 in Nebraska between York and Lexington.:)

Most of the "flat earthers" sell shit associated with it. I'm sure a significant portion of them don't actually believe it.

After all this is over, I hope people have learned a few things about how fragile this planet is.

I'm not a tree hugger and staunchly support Capitalism, but I firmly believe that we don't own this planet's resources, we rent them.

Every now and mother nature will give us a stark reminder of this very fact.

If we continue to abuse the privilege, we can be eliminated from this planet as quickly as the dinosaurs were. There are volcanoes all over this world, and beneath this world, that could bring hell to breakfast if they ever erupt. Fault lines could send the whole West coast into the Pacific. Tsunamis could wipe out low lying coastal areas. There are asteroids out there.

Mother nature can be a cold ugly witch if she has to be.

Listening to the Trump presser today they all sounded very optimistic. They said if their original charts were accurate, there would already be 40,000 deaths in Italy. That's good news.
