Anthony Hubbard will make his decision next Sat (Apr 23rd)

When he gets to Nebraska, hopefully he will realize that if he is going to play basketball in Nebby, that it would be foolish to play for the 2nd best team in the state. Then after waking up and smelling the coffee, he will sign with Iowa on Sunday. :)

tic toc, tic toc... I hate waiting!

Well... the Hawks are the third best team is this state so that would be foolish too. I would go with Nebraska.

I think Hubbard will be a Hawkeye.........but then I thought Washpun would be a Hawk so..............................

Third best? Could you qualify that please?

Refresh my memory, where did ISU finish in the Big 12?

I can't believe I'm stepping in but the state's best team has always been defined by head to head competition. The mythical state champ isn't defined by any conference standings. All this being said, the state schools sucked this year so it really doesn't matter.

Iowa couldn't beat the last place B12 team on it's own home court? Sorry...couldn't resist.

The Iowa basketball program can and will improve. This is going on and occurring as we speak.

On the other hand, Ames can try as it may, but will always remain . . . well, Ames. And Cedar Falls (no personal offense intended) really sucks.

I'm not talking about the Big 12. Did I mention the Big 12? I talking about the state of Iowa. I think most people would agree that with all of the talent coming in to ISU we are most definitely ahead of Iowa. And UNI is also ahead of Iowa.

I don't think many people would argue with this. Heck, if Phelps could actually coach, Drake would be ahead of Iowa. I think they've had the best recruiting class in the MVC the past two seasons.

Have you ever lived, or even been to Ames? I love Ames. I like how you deflected my criticism of your basketball team, to Ames becoming a "crappy" town. Where did that even come from?

LOL. If I do recall, Iowa did beat UNI. How did Isu fair? UNI would finish either last or second to last in both the B10 and B12. But I agree, as of now, on paper, Isu appears to have a better team for next year.

I get your dismissal of the talk, but the real concern is if you are defining head to head as the determining factor - then Iowa isn't 3rd. They beat both Drake and UNI this past year...

The poster saying Iowa is the 3rd best team is still invalid.

On paper, ISU has the best in-state team right now. I would put Iowa and UNI pretty close to each other at 2nd.

ISU defiantly has a lot of talent on their team. Not having a deep bench this year hurt them greatly. Now you still need to get them to gel and play well, and I think that the Mayors coaching abilities are still unproven.

Next year has yet to come, and the recruiting is not done yet. Let's talk next year this time and we will see where everyone lands.

And since it is now on the table I have lived in Ames and it was the worst year of my life. I could not wait to get out of that town, and avoid it at all cost to this day. I only go there if I am forced to.

Again talent wise ISU currently has a leg up, but talent is not everything.

And for God's sakes, can we STOP making everything on this site Iowa vs. Iowa State. It's borderline ridiculous. We'll just end up deleting posts / banning users if people can't stay on topic. It's so ridiculous. Talk Iowa Basketball / B1G basketball on this forum. If you need to talk about ISU, take it to the woodshed over in the Rivalry Forum.

Thanks in advance.

UNI beat ISU. Iowa beat UNI. ISU beat Iowa. That doesn't really tell you a whole lot. I'm talking in terms of programs. UNI went to the Sweet 16 last year. They are always solid. ISU has a load of talent coming in. Iowa has.......um........hope. I don't care who beat who last season. Look ahead to next year.

What is your gut feeling on Hubbard spank?

No we have more then hope. We watched a lot of the players at Iowa get better as the year went on. Which you can credit the coaching staff with. We also ended with a high note knocking off Purdue.

And back to the topic of this thread hopefully Hubbard comities to Iowa, and that will bring in a very good and athletic player who can nock down shots. Which behind the arch shooting was Iowa's biggest weakness. We then still have two more scolly's to fill and I have no doubt Fran will fill that with good talent. So far the two players Fran was 100% responsible for have done very well. Arguably the two best on the team right now.
