3 Questions for Mr. Howe

You want "them" to succeed at no cost to you. It seems you are ok with no knock warrants served when the wanted is already in custody and all that is said is oops when a young unarmed woman is sit 20 times.

You seem ok with a guy locally from Africa coming from Texas with bipolar issues doesn't stop out of fear and calls family out of figuring out what to do... Gets stopped by a tirestrip, gets out of his car in a manic and with a knife in hand but not threatening gets hit with 40 plus shots from 3 jurisdictions when that likely would have never happened to a white kid with better insurance. Even if a white kid made threats he likely would be dead.

Do you ever stopband think what caused the culture? Are you aware that trauma PTSD does change the brain and is inherited? That living in a family where grandparents and parents have been treated badly and that trauma impacts you? Can you imagine actually finishing a degree and struggling to get interviews when the h r dept years your voice. Competing with kids who have had countless tutors. Why are black numbers down in bb? It's called expensive travel teams.

You just don't get it

There's some systemic racism and cops can change things and do better, but I wish we could be mature enough to have a conversation in which it's discussed that there are things the black community can do better too.

Very good point. If you are going to make the arguement that past experiences play a huge part in the development of black culture (it's actually a very good argument that I agree with) then you also have to concede that cop's past experiences have helped form the culture they have of abusing power.

Cops are kind of like Kirk Ferentz. They don't like unknowns. When stopping people they want conformity. How many times has a cop had to deal with shit stopping people all week, people who are resisting, not conforming, etc.. We, the stopped, expect to be treated fairly on all stops by police. There are more people now, many younger who don't understand the consequences, who are now challenging cops and resisting arrests.

If a cop sees you have a weapon, you are at risk and increase your chance of getting shot exponentially, or at least shit going off the rails.

Understand but at this point it's like complaining to an abused wife she didn't do the dishes.

When both sides needs to work on issues, it doesn't work if only one side does.

That's the PCHawk coming out of me!

We will never get to where we want to get with racism until people stop reading this post as racist. Black people need to work on fixing their culture and white people need to work on not condemning black people for their culture. Both things desperately need to happen.
I don't see this as racist necessarily, just obscenely uneducated not knowing/admitting that it was white policies over centuries that caused these figures. Redlining, banks not lending to African Americans, cutting education, funding education with property taxes, segregation, spending billions creating and arming an occupying force in the form of police that jails millions in for profit prisons. Gee I wonder where these statistics came from. If you don't think it was caused by a system that oppressed them, do you think it's just naturally in their blood to commit more crimes, exude more violence and be terrible fathers? I'm intensely curious.

Brionna Taylor?

I truly was an abused kid and should have been in foster care. You are sort of saying I should have made my bed and not spilled the milk. I was shaped by the abuse. Abused kids are oft identified by clumsiness. And defiance or complete submission.

Maybe..maybe I was too sexy.

I've watched that video too. I both understand how black culture got to where it is now AND I recognize that they need to colectively make a concerted effort to change that culture if we are going to get to where they need to be. It's equally important as it is for white people to make changes.

In that video you quoted, it talked about how resumes with black sounding names were way less likely to get a call back than ones with white sounding names. That isn't necessarily because the people are racist. It's likely that most are a result of a fear of the culture that black people have fallen into from years of oppression. Its impossible to fix that preconceived notion of a culture without also fixing the culture itself. Both have to be done simultaneously over time. You can tell your kid you are going to start trusting them again right now, but they also have to work on becoming more trustworthy too. But are you really going to just instantly trust them? Or will you have to slowly build that trust?

Which video? Even though I was quoting you I was more responding to Amoeba but wanted to include your text. But yes, it is a collective effort and it is massive. "Their" culture is a direct result of our oppression of them "IMO"

Those programs were facing circumstances that leads to criminal charges, none of that is relevant to what’s happening here. These players had an opportunity to contact Kirk and address these issues or they would turn to social media to get their point across. But no, they just attacked the football program without giving them a chance to address their concerns beforehand. This was childish and petty and it’s also typical of their culture.
Your last sentence disparages an entire culture of people distinguished primarily by their race for the purposes of your reference. That is an example of the textbook definition of racism. If I am wrong, please enlighten me.

After reading a number of posts in this thread, I have decided that in order to lend credibility and comfort to my decisions, I am going to select one comment from each person and define them on the spot as “liberal” or “conservative.” Boy Howdy! That feels good!

You mean being childish and petty isn't typical in black culture?

First and foremost sorry for your past history and abuse.

I realize that there are many with the same situation but all can't be included in the same silo. So, you are saying don't hold anybody accountable then. Yes, some have pretty damn shitty stories.

You are victim blaming. You don't get....I get that but you are.

We need to change the white culture toward blacks without expectations toward blacks.

Don't think so. You can be hypocritical about it. If you are going to count the individuals treated badly and or killed by cops, I have a right to show cops who were killed by perpetrators.

A right..sure. but you aren't going to change things without being like Peter saying....what about them?

Did you see Walmart just stopped locking Black personal products and treating them like general personal products?

You say...stop stealing black products and we won't lock them.

Walmart was punishing the group for a few and just didn't want to pay for added other security. It was wrong.

You make pretty big assumptions plus you assume left is bad.

Basic questions. Do you pay 100 percent of Govt services you use including roads, utilities, airports, and food? I didn't say do you pay but do you pay 100 percent. Would you put your money in a 100 percent unregulated bank? Do you go to an unlicensed me? Did you pay 100 percent of the real cost of education?

The concept of public education is a pretty socialist concept. Did you get aid or tax breaks...
Where did I say or mention the left being bad or worse? I'm not much a fan of either side honestly. But without the balance of the two sides this country would be upside down. And I did mention that I wasn't sure on where Barta and KF lean I could be 100% wrong on them. The board however I'm pretty sure is

You pretty much implied it or at least is less desirable. Kind of hard to define without definitions. Sounded a bit like better dead than red type of thing.
