2nd year Georgia in championship game

Barry Alvarez said it best in an interview on BTN in November. When asked about how he was able to build Wisconsin into a great program from being nothing, he said that he started by determining what kind of player he could recruit to Wisconsin, then developed schemes and identity around those...

    Dillon Doyle Commits to Hawkeyes

Some people are really bothered by what they perceive as nepotism. I have no problem with what Ferentz has done with his kids. The 2 on scholarship (Brian and James) were good enough to make NFL rosters. The 1 not on scholarship won't. The kids that got the scholarships deserved them. Those...

Could Iowa MBB get Reese Skinner?

I never had an opportunity to see Troy Skinner play in high school, but I once heard that he would warm up before each game by taking 5 3-point shots, starting from one corner and moving around to the opposite corner. Then, he would sit down and wait for the game to start.

Iowa vs. Colorado in Sioux Falls next year

Terrific new! May give an opportunity to take the family to game.

Mississippi WR Brandon Smith Pledges to Iowa

Tape looks terrific. Fast... outruns everyone! Tough, catching balls in traffic. Nice hands. Nothing not to like here.

    Grills

IMHO, the best grill discussion starts and ends with one amazing cooking device... the Big Green Egg. I've had mine for 4 years and would never go back to another grill of any kind. Grilling - Due to the use of real lump charcoal (not briquettes), the flavor of the food is the very best...

    Spring Position Outlook: Wide Receiver

All I want to change in offensive play calling is to throw it deep once per quarter, just 4 times a game. Whether a high percentage are complete or not, it would really open up the run game and short passing game by getting the safeties out of the box. Keep the opposing team's DBs honest.

    Jennings, Larson Leave Women's Team

Larson will probably end up at South Dakota State like her brother did after his stint at Florida. SDSU is a solid program. Tested Stanford down to the wire for a trip to the Sweet 16 this year.

    Kriener Senior Highlights!

Reminds me a bit of another Meyer... Loren, who played at ISU then was drafted by the Mavericks. Loren graduated around 1991 from Ruthven-Ayrshire, which is close to Spirit Lake. Loren was about 6'10'' and had a similar skill set. I would be really happy to see Kriener have a Loren Meyer type...

    Christian McCaffrey

Christian reminds me of Marshall Faulk. The way he made cuts on that grass was just amazing. Kid has balance, speed, vision, etc. Could be an all-time great.

    Lady Hawkeyes 74 Nebraska68

Not surprising. Nebraska is a volleyball school.

This game has a 2003 Orange Bowl feel about it...

I'm generally positive on this game, but I will say that Conner Cook is more like Carson Palmer than any other quarterback Iowa has played in the last 10 years. In that Orange Bowl game, Palmer's ball placement was spectacular. Time after time, the ball was thrown only where his receivers...

Mizzou's Pinkel resigning at end of season

Might as well write the obituary for the University of Missouri football team. No player wants to put himself into that situation. No coach will want to be a part of it. Within 2 years, there will be serious talk by the SEC powers about kicking them out of the conference. The program itself...

Kirk Ferentz v Hayden Fry: Their Teams Who Made the Top 10

Given the inherent recruiting challenges of Iowa, we are truly blessed as a fanbase to have had HF and KF for the last 35 years. These 2 men have run programs with integrity and offered a level of stability that so many other schools have not had. It's for this reason that Iowa needs to...

The 2015 Iowa team is putting up 2002 Numbers

The ONE thing missing on that 2002 team that the 2015 team has is an elite CB. A guy like Desmond King may have turned the ISU loss into a win. Senaca Wallace would have had a lot more to worry about on that side of the field. Also, in the Orange Bowl, Carson Palmer had a field day on our...

    "A Meaningless Exhibition"

I really doubt you have ever read the New Testament from start to finish. I challenge you to do so over the weekend. All Scripture is good for the soul.

    Recruiting for next year

I'm a lifelong Hawkeye fan and graduate of South Dakota State, so I watched him play a few times this year. I came away very impressed with his athleticism. By the time he is done, I could really see him scoring 18 - 20 PPG. At 6'6" he is able to create his own shot very well and can finish...

    alternitive history 1986 ncaa tournament

I was a 10 year old watching from the upper deck at the Metrodome. I don't remember much except the disappointment in the loss. NC State broke our hearts again in 89, I believe, with Rodney Monroe and Chris Corchiani. Never realized before that NC State beat the Marble/Armstrong/Horton class...

    If Wisconsin wins tonight,...

The Big Ten will have won the National Championship in both Football and Men's Basketball, by far the 2 biggest NCAA sports. Throw in second tier sports like Wrestling and Women's Volleyball and the Big Ten has had a great year. ESPN can't be happy.

    gotta give it to Oges...

JO shot with good rhythm tonight. This has been his problem. In many cases, his rhythm is just too slow. Rhythm needs to be exactly the same on each shot. Kid needs to get out a metronome and shoot to it.
