    Sean Draper

Draper doesn’t currently look like a starting caliber CB. Hopefully he will improve. Iowa really needs some depth at DB and Mabin may be needed at safety.

Barring injuries who are your players of the year for offense and defense?

Jake really needs to improve a great deal for this team to be good. I know it’s just one “gameâ€￾ but what I saw in the spring game doesn’t leave me all warm and fuzzy.

    Bielema touts A.J. Derby

Not sure that I can see Iowa hiring someone with no prior college (or HS) head coaching experience in BF. At this point, he hasn't even been a coordinator.

When will Iowa announce it's last 2016-2017 OOC opponent?

I guess that's correct. So unless ISU is dropped, they will remain our one big OOC game.

    Powell

So who will be our deep threat? Are Smith and Willies fast enough for that?

When will Iowa announce it's last 2016-2017 OOC opponent?

No they don't. They aren't playing ISU every year.

    ESPN Iowa projections

I think those wideouts were hurt and didn’t play for much of last year. Same for a number of other players, I think. Those guys are back and they are deep at many positions except, I think. offensive line. They could be really good.

Can you pay for BTN and ESPN college Football without having Directv/cable?

Where does that leave the BTN revenue going forward?

Where would that leave Iowa ?

Lack of night games a downer for at least one Hawkeye

As do Rutgers and Maryland, I think. Does Wisconsin have a BTN night game this year?

2014 On the Record: Your Game By Game Prediction

7-5 Losses to Pitt, Indiana, Northwestern, Nebraska and Maryland. Mediocre offense can't help a defense that takes a step back from last year.

    ESPN power index for 2014.

Indiana and Maryland could both be much better this year. Indiana just needs a bit of improvement on defense and they will be a tough out. They could beat Iowa this year. Maryland has many starters coming back and also could beat Iowa. Northwestern is another team like that.

    Brian Ferentz

You should substitute "Iowa football" for Ferentz. Ferentz has been what Iowa football historically is: kinda average. Judging by the negative and sarcastic tenor of most of your posts, you are unhappy with reality.

    Podcast - Phil Steele

Who is Kurt? In any case yes, Alabama has a better coach, better players, better tradition, nicer campus and, allegedly, prettier coeds. You really should go to grad school there and become a fan.

2014 Weakness - Offensive Line Depth

Iowa can lose one tackle and still be OK. Two would derail the season. That's probably true even if the younger guys bulk up over the summer. Guard and center look ok to me.

    Powell updates anyone?

Which games do you think he will get more Playing time? I assume that you mean whomever replaces MSU; maybe that's Indiana? Certainly, OSU was crap defensively last year so you must not mean them.

How much pull does the AD have w game times?

You sound like quite the diehard as well. As you seem to have contempt for poor people (based on your post) I am left wondering what you do for a living.

    Crazy recruiting stat.

This gets to the heart of it.

    Key stretch: Iowa - ESPN

You didn’t mention injuries, which could derail the season. I think at this point, the depth could be Iowa’s biggest problem. Given that injuries will occur, and the lack of depth at a number of spots, it seems unlikely to me that the team will reach 9-10 wins. I also feel that people...

    Iowa football: Previewing the safeties

This team is sure thin at a number of positions. Safety may be the thinnest.
