This is wonderful...A symbolic defining win for Iowa's rise back to Prominence

Last time Alford did Iowa, it took 14 years to walk straight. But I think you've got me convinced. Let's beat the Zags.

This is wonderful...A symbolic defining win for Iowa's rise back to Prominence

Better for Iowa to pack it in and come home with a defeat to the Gonzos than take it in the rear from two Alfords. That would be unbearable.

This is wonderful...A symbolic defining win for Iowa's rise back to Prominence

There is a downside to beating Gonzaga, so be careful what you wish for.

Please tell me this won't happen!!

Willies is in CJ's ear as we speak. So no worries whatsoever.

Over/Under: Points Iowa Will Have To Score Against Wisky

Wisky has throttled some good offenses and destroyed decent defenses but there is some good news. The Illini put up 4TDs on Wisky while yielding a relatively measly (for their D) 38 points. The cloud in this silver ling is that Illini had to pull the red-shirt off a dual-threat QB to spark their...

TMZ alleges Winston point shaving vs. LVL

If someone lost money on this game, they were not victimized because CFB is an amateur sport played by kids. If this took place in the nfl, my position would be different. Also, this is just my worldview-- I do NOT insist that others see it this way.

TMZ alleges Winston point shaving vs. LVL

It would be laughable in a sense if Winston does time for this instead of the rape. This point-shaving incident , even if true, is imo easy to forgive-- football is only a game, he would've done a buddy (not the mob) a favor, and still pulled out the game for his team. Kids can get caught up...

What does Iowa have to do to win the West?

If I am Kf, i go all out to beat minnie, so i can rest up guys like mw against IL and have them fresh for the last two. Might drop one in champagne a la isu and md...but in the long run what really matters is a B1G championship.

    Northwestern highlights

Very nice but one big omission. The opening kickoff return, which set the tone, deserves to be on there.

    OLine Shuffle

During the game, I got the impression that the run game was not particularly effective to the left. It was up the gut and to the right that we seem to get yards. I could certainly be wrong on this...haven't seen replays.

Excellent use of both bye-weeks is an improvement

Regardless of whether GD or a yet-to-be-outed-entity was responsible for the off-week scheme change and play-calling yesterday, the fact is NW came prepared for one thing and faced something very, if not entirely, different. That by itself gave the Iowa offense a huge advantage. Both games after...

Is Greg Davis even calling the plays today?

Good thread. Until CJ got his reps, I saw no evidence of GD play-calling. Even after CJ, it was intermittent. Kudos to the O in any case. They played well today.

Going to see Wadley this week?

What happens when Wadley gets 5 carries and generates 8ypc running between the tackles? Do GD and KF get a pat on the back or does everyone go ballistic for not seeing him earlier?

Greater scope for improvement-- on O or D?

If Iowa is going to salvage this season, which side of the ball is more likely to improve? It seems like the Offense has the talent but is weighed down by inopportune play calling. On D, the lbs are a basket case, PP can only do so much with the guys he's got. So right now unless the O...

    Name for Iowa's Offense

I would characterize it as a visit to the bathroom after two days of constipation. Lots of ******* and moaning with minimal output, then the plug falls, the rest follows. All in all, a thoroughly unsatisfying dump.

A mixed bag of Maryland links

This excerpt from link-2 cracked me up-- Kirk Ferentz is one of the most tactically conservative coaches in all of college football, so there's a good chance Maryland will be the beneficiary of a punt from inside the red zone or some other such nonsense.

    Crazy Stat

In addition to Coleman being good, IU's OL was no slouch either. If I recall (reading) correctly, their OL collectively are one of the most experienced units with most starts in the nation.

so nobody's going to make a thread about the defense?

Hope you are right and it was just an off day, and and not something IU has exposed for others to emulate. And, yes, you identified the play exactly. I laughed when Mabin continued buying whatever it was the receiver was selling.

so nobody's going to make a thread about the defense?

Sure Coleman was terrific but I find it hard to believe the Iowa safeties suddenly and comprehensively forgot how to play. Was Indiana doing something truly innovative elsewhere to freeze Lo and Lo away from the play? I will look for Gamefilm's analysis keenly this week. Aside: On one of...

HawkeyeGameFilm takes an In Depth Look at Iowa Passing game

Always enjoy Gamefilm's write-ups. Interesting takeaways about the TEs. If last year's OSU game showed anything, Duzey when matched up appropriately should be targetted vertically. Perhaps GD and the QBs are saving those for the playoffs-- if so, I am ok with the setup.
