Over/Under: Points Iowa Will Have To Score Against Wisky

Will 38 points be enough Saturday? If Iowa can score 38, that would mean they did a relatively good job of ball control/field position & time of possession. Will that be enough?

Yes. WI is going to put a ton of yards on us, but I think the good ol' redzone D will emerge at its strongest yet. I think this game comes down to one thing - our offensive line. If we can't run, game over.

The D knows who's coming into Kinnick, and are going to be amped to stop it.

If Iowa scores 38, I believe they win, for the reasons you just stated. I'd like to think so, anyway.

That also goes both ways - if Iowa's D can't get off the field, I'm not sure the O will have enough opportunities to score 38. It's definitely going to take a complete effort Saturday to pull it off.

Edit: I'd be inclined to set the over/under at about 31. Gut feeling, but I think Iowa will have to score at least that much to win.

WI defense is good, or at least it's very good at stopping the other bad teams in the Big10. Maryland put up a ton of points on our defense, and WI held them to 7.

WI crapped their bed against NW, and they still were in the game. To have 4 turnovers, and still be down by one score....shows how bad NW is. But those games happen.

I just don't see us coming out like we did against NW. We came out flat against IL, and luckily wore them down. If we cannot convert on our trips to the redzone, WI is going to just kill us. I have a feeling this will be a shoot-out for us to win.

Our defense has not stopped any strong running game this year, and if their QB is accurate, what can we do? We need a sloppy game from WI, and capitalize.

Also, I personally think CJ would give us the best chance. WI is going to blitz, blitz, blitz.

This. Iowa dominated field position last year and only got 9 points on 3 field goals in the first half... have to convert those to scores.

I'd say that would be plenty, and would take the under. I would go with a low 30 number only because it seems when Iowa is involved, "typically" the scores stay low and close. (thinking like 31-24, either way). I think our D, fans, weather, all contribute to keeping the score in the low numbers until a 4th qtr shootout breaks open the game or even possible OT.

I think 31 would win it for Iowa. Can we do it against WI's major defense? Don't know. Would take a turnover/short field, ending in an Iowa TD; maybe a kick off return setting up another TD. A long field goal. Two TD's off of traditional drives...tough, but maybe. Frankly, I just don't see how we beat these SOB's. I live in this dam state and have to put up with their BS so it is really painful when we lose...

If we can contain Gordon somewhat I think 38 pts will be more than enough to beat Wisky. Its all going to boil down to our D.

Wisky has throttled some good offenses and destroyed decent defenses but there is some good news. The Illini put up 4TDs on Wisky while yielding a relatively measly (for their D) 38 points. The cloud in this silver ling is that Illini had to pull the red-shirt off a dual-threat QB to spark their offense in the 4th quarter.

This game has the potential to be the biggest embarrassment of the KFz era. I hope to hell...we can keep it close.

I was thinking 35 points to myself earlier in the week. We aren't going to be able to stop them, only slow them down. The bigger question is which offense shows up? The team that runs bubble screens for two yards or the team that stretches the field.
