Villanova game thread

We need to get more athletic. It's as simple as that.

This will never happen, unless Bump Elliot reverses his aging, is reinstated as the AD, fires everyone in every sport, and hires coaches that want to win. The culture of the athletic department isn't a championship culture. It's a "do things the right way" culture, but they need a "do everything within the rules to win" culture. The state has enough disadvantages in location, demographics, institution size, notoriety, etc., that we don't need to impose additional constraints on our programs.

No offense but dude seriously. They are being overwhelmed by a better team. Everything avalanched on them, they're not engaged and about 200 other complaints you could legitimately throw out there, but gutless. Dude. Whatever. Cool down a bit. Go get a burrito, and get away from your keyboard, before you say something dumber.

I would wager 50% of his game day posts have the words "gutless, pathetic, losers, garbage, etc". It's just how he feels about Iowa players, both FB and Bball.

It's an incredible thing to say when you have this many seniors, but it's true. It demonstrates the talent gap that recruiting needs to fix in a hurry.

People need to remember though when Fran came to town NO ONE wanted to play at Iowa. Lick had the program on full meltdown (christ his kid was playing for us)!

Fran was able to get what he could at the time. In fairness the next batch is where he should be judged.

Yeah it was crazy to watch them melt down. Woody misses 2 bunnies (if we had a guy that could dunk that would have been 4 points) and MG just making bad passes and picking up his dribble in horrible spots. THATS WHEN FRAN, AS A COACH NEEDS TO CALL A TIME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gather the team, slow it down. Did he, nope! Just let it swell to 20 plus points. Bad coaching and I like Fran but he needs to look in the mirror after this one.

Ain't gonna happen. Fran is never wrong.

Now please ask an intelligent question. Or make an intelligent statement.

4 seniors, 1 junior starting lineup
Two 4* recruits & three 3/4* recruits in starting lineup.
2 starters average near 20 pts a game.
And... this is the result?
This is a result of **** poor coaching, folks.

I wouldn't call it gutless but what would you call Uthoff's obvious shrinking violet effort.

These are Fran's prize recruits. It is not going to be better next year. I think Fran has peaked at Iowa. Had to edit, actually JO came here unrecruited and Baer is walk-on. Take them out of the picture.

This can't be the peak.......Frankly, my hope is in the fact the others keep saying we are making progress.

More athletic? You really don't need athleticism to compete with teams in college basketball. I mean look at UNI. Do you really think that UNI is anywhere near the same level as Texas athletically? If what you mean by "more athletic" is "more heart" or "more effort" or "more fight," then I wholeheartedly agree. I'm not saying that athleticism is never relevant to the outcome of a game, but athleticism really isn't the difference here. Can you REALLY tell me that this would have happened to UNI?

UNI takes the air out of the ball and plays half court. They pack the lane and make teams shoot. Texas can't shoot.

We play up and down, high possession basketball. Yes, we need to get more athletic if we are going to beat good teams playing that style of ball. Jok, Uthoff and Woody have poor lateral quickness, we can't keep people in front of us, therefore we sag and the shoot uncontested shots.

We also have no ability to threaten the rim off the dribble on offense.
