SIAP: Ulis Decision Friday Night, 7:20 p.m.

It is not a level playing field. I don't blame him for going to Kentucky, I am sure the "extras" and "perks" are more attractive.

Kentucky didn't even offer him a scholarship until he had them in his final three, I highly doubt they needed any extras or perks to convince Ullis to go there. Cal's track record of putting guys into the NBA speaks for itself.

Not a good feeling with this one. Dad is too involved.
I'd put my $ on Kentucky where he'll be promised the world then promptly sat on the bench to watch it go by.

Calipari is pretty straight forward with recruits. I don't think he promised him much, especially since Ullis came to him asking for the scholarship.

What comes first? The Chicken or the egg?
Is Cal good at putting guys in the NBA, or does he just get NBA guys that need their one year of college?

Both, he's obviously not turning nobodies into first round draft picks. But he also puts them in a system that showcases their talents and prepares them for the NBA. There's lots of highly ranked guards that go to college and don't live up to their billing, Cal hasn't had one like that yet.

I have nothing to back this opinion up, but my guess is those percentages are based purely on school name. Iowa still isn't getting much respect from college basketball fans so I don't expect a random person's opinion to show us respect. I'll wait until Friday and not get worked up over John Doe's predictions.

Iowa actually had a better record last year. If he is looking at recent success, then Iowa is a no brainer :)

If he is as much about family as he seems don't see anyway Kentucky wins. It's a year to year project not building a program. Would be playing with many different players ever year and so on

Would it make you guys feel better if I went over there and created 15 alts and had them all say they are hearing Ulis gave a verbal to Fran on Tuesday during the in home visit?

That would be an interesting exercise .. .. just to see how they react!!

GO HAWKS!!!

They are all hearing the same information for one or two people though, being a recruiting expert today is just compiling what you see on twitter, it's not like any of these guys are actually talking to Tyler himself.

He waited for the offer from Kentucky.... got it and now is ready to decide.

Back to the drawing board Fran.

The thing that really has me puzzled, is what Cal made a visit to Tyrus instead of seeing Ulis? Did they give Fran an in-home visit to tell him face to face that he committed to UK because they respect him so much? I think MSU is out at this point, and the fact Cal visited a recruit they have ahead of Ulis, not to mention they are in on the top PG in the 2015 class has me very puzzled. I love what Fran has done here whether we get him or not, the guy can flat out evaluate talent and recruit with the best of them.

Got an email from Advancement/Alumni Office about Friday's Game.

It's Dave Mattio Night.. they'll be honoring the man.

"Come and join us for a special night honoring Dave Mattio and celebrate his 42 years of coaching.
Coach Mattio, the winningest coach in IHSA history, has impacted thousands of Spartans throughout his coaching career. The school will honor Coach Mattio on Friday, September 13 at 7:15 p.m. with Dave Mattio Night before the Varsity Football game against Carmel Catholic High School.

The celebration will continue for Coach Mattio in the Sr. M. Paul McCaughey Leadership Center following Friday Night’s game. Admission is free."

No mention of Tyler Ulis announcing his college.

Some of the same "experts' that are now predicting Kentucky were saying MSU was a lock just a couple of weeks ago. Ulis may have indeed fallen under the allure of Cal and his evil empire, but I think it wise to take the wait and see attitude until we hear it from his lips.

The thing that drives me crazy is how Cal and Kentucky can bring in 13 new players if they want. No one ever asks ''how many schollys does Kentucky have to give?''... because it is almost unlimited. So, if Jones and Okafor decide to commit to Ky, and Ulis is already committed....no problem...Ky has 13 to give. I wish they had never gone away from the rule that limited schollys to 5 per year....make Cal pay for having so many one and done guys. Now, I wonder if Ulis commits to Ky but with the understanding that if Jones also commits to ky, then he will probably de-commit and go elsewhere?
