**OFFICIAL CUBS REGULAR SEASON THREAD**

We might see a position player pitch tonight....well, that's always fun.

I was searching for the answer, but is Gary Gaetti the last Cub to do this? It says in 1999. I remember when Doug Dascenzo came in to pitch in the early 90s.

As I am typing this, Wood puts Braun on with no outs, so I doubt it even happens now...I like Wood, but I have a feeling he gives up a run (or more).

Wood walks Braun on 4 pitches to start the 11th.

And, the Cubs get out of it. 2 walks, then F7 and DP by Greinke (pitcher pinch hitting)Whew! Cards lost 9-7 in 12 as well. :)

K Wood leading off 12th. Hasn't batted since 2007.

now...who didn't see that coming? Hart with the hit through spot vacated by the shift.
They played the percentages ,but got burned. They have spray charts on where these guys typically hit to. It worked great when they shifted Barney to center and Chipper hit there to seal a 1 run win over the Braves.

I think the Iowa team was playing in Fresno so not sure if Coleman is going to be a lot of use to them today. Coleman is 2-3 with a 3.48 ERA this year at Iowa. They need Volstad to step up and pitch his best game of the season. The bullpen was pretty depleted last night. But then, so was Milwaukee's.

this might be one of those things where volstad is told he's throwing 100+ pitches tonight no matter how hard you are getting hit so you'd better pitch well.

this is also where we miss Marshall. he could give you 3 inn in relief

Was that Marshall deal ever completed? I know they got Travis Wood for him, but they were supposed to get two additional players as well.
