No way Paterno survives this if he knew.

or maybe he was just freaked out and it didnt really hit home with him that it was a boy vs two dudes, if i came across OKF4PREZ and Briankaldenberg (spelling) in the shower getting it on i'd probably take off too...

You're going to try to make light of the fact that young boys were being raped in a Division 1 football program's lockerroom? Sick. Just sick.

If something like this ever happened at Iowa and it got covered up I would be done being a fan. I would burn everything I had that was black and gold. This is truly THE worst issue I have ever heard associated with a college football program, or any sport for that matter. It makes me sick that Paterno is associated with something like this. How in the heck do you not advise the coach to call the police and go back and make sure the kid is ok? How the heck do you just leave the poor boy in the shower with that man?

Everyone involved, from school officials to coaches to law enforcement, that knew about this and allowed it to continue needs to be punished.

This is just terrible. It makes recruiting violations look downright saintly. It's really sad.

I'm sure Penn State fans and alums are just sick.

I had the misfortune of reading part of what he saw so, yes, almost as vile. He saw a 10 year old boy being raped in a shower and he turned around and left. He did NOTHING to stop it. He didn't make sure the boy was safe. Nothing. In my opinion, that makes him pretty fing vile.

I agree. It starts with the grad assisant. First step---save the boy. Second step---call the police.

It seems that institutions of higher learning in general have a problem when it comes to their athletic programs, who's really in charge, and conflicts of interest.

Iowa has had its own problems in recent years with rape allegations and the school, whether it be coaches or administrators, not handling the situation very well.

Just this year, OSU's president made a complete *** of himself by saying that Tressel had the power to fire him, rather than the other way 'round.

And then there's Notre Dame's football program, which keeps getting away with murder.

Whoever witnessed that happening and did nothing but tuck his tail and run, deserves to be fired, charged, and publicly flogged. I don't care if the dude raping that kid is twice my size, I'll at least distract him long enough so that the kid can actually escape and get out of there. I wouldn't and couldn't let another person do and continue to do something like that. This is wrong on so many levels. Paterno needs to go and they need to just clean house.

How many empty seats are there at Beaver Stadium on Saturday?

When Pierce was let back on the team and Alford came out publicly supporting him, some fans left and didn't come back. I was hearing at the time that the entire women's athletic department in its entirety refused to look SA in the eyes and refused to acknowledge his presence.

So I am wondering if with the current situation in State College if fans leave?

The AD and VP both just stepped down. Is that enough to keep fans in the seats, or do they want JoePa?

The whole situation is just so sad.

We are!

Pedo State!

Really? He wrote a book that was titled this? He needs to burn in hell and should be put out of his misery.

Sandusky was not on the staff when most of the alleged acts occurred ... he was allowed to use PSU facilities for some crazy reason, but he was not on the staff

I understand Iowa has had it's share of problems but nothing compares to a coach sodomizing boys on campus multiple times with witnesses. To cover it up and not take the appropriate action is unforgivable.

Pardon me but that is absolutely the stupidest thing I have ever read. You're telling me you would be able to stand there, watch a child being raped and WALK OUT? And then go to your dad and ask what to do? Bullsh*t. If you have any decency, any moral fiber, any anything, you would grab that child and go directly to the police. The fact that he didn't is almost as vile as what the DC is being charged with. MM knowingly left a child in direct danger because he was more worried about his own job and the PSU football program. It's disgusting and unconscionable. If he doesn't fry then I hope he has to live with those images and knowing that he behaved in the most cowardly way possible.
after leaving sandusky in a bloody broken pile on the shower floor.

a lot of people here have obviously never been faced with a shocking, life or death situation. you just have to understand that not everyone acts in the manner that seems appropriate in retrospect.

i would like to think that i would be a hero but if i stumbled upon a situation like that involving someone i know well i would be more inclined to think that i was hallucinating or that i was being set up on Punk'D

Correct and I do mean everyone including the President and JoePa. JoePa does not skate from this simply because he reported it to his "superior". He IS Penn State for crying out loud. There are no excuses for anyone in this and why it wasn't reported to the cops immediately. None, zero, zip. Everyone needs to be gone.

Gone AND prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

See this is why I think Joe Pa is more complicit than McQueary.

I agree. But it seems that 'unconditional support' is the norm in these situations, rather than the exception. And that's a problem.

No, there's no excuse here. Even if you turn tail and run from what's happening in front of you, you to go the police. Not your boss, nor his superiors, but straight to the authorities.

McQueary is just as much a coward and just as culpable here as Paterno and the rest of that scum.

Agree and even after making a huge mistake and not reacting, he called his father looking for direction and unfortunately wasn't given good advice there either.
