New '15 offers

Ingram, no. Meyer, yes. I don't get why Clone fans have a hard time admitting that Fred pulls scholarships, it works, just look at SEC football.

I already said that I don't care. I also think it's strange that, per Hawk fans, every kid that has transferred under Fred has had their scholly pulled.

If he does make the rotation that means Natty Ice will be off to do some drunk driving at another school.

He'll transfer to Iowa where there is no penalty for it. See, this is fun!

I'm leaving this thread (nobody cares) since it's turned into a Cy-Hawk ******* match. That is NOT why I come to these boards.

Back to the topic at hand. I'd like to see Fran get both Ike and Moss. I think Fran wants to have a roster that looks like this:

2 true PG
1 combo G (PG/SG)
2 gunners/shooter
4 athletic wings
2 PF
2 C

I think many are worried about how many wings Fran is bringing in, but I don't think he really cares about a "true" SG. I think he would rather have 2 wings on the floor, or a wing and a gunner (Ogs, Ellinson, Fleming).

He isn't new on Iowa's radar. They have been recruiting/following him since he was a So. I don't really know what Fred is doing with this offer either. This really isn't his bag, and I would be shocked if he could pull the kid in. Just as I would be shocked if Fran could beat Fred for a transfer. I would think Iowa could rightfully point out to Moss that he would be "transferred" over, and probably "gently forced" out the door like the other dozen or so that Fred has forced out. I mean I know Cydkar doesn't know it, but Gibson, and Bluford were both encouraged to leave last year, as Fred does every year.

I'm just surprised with the offer. I can't remember the last time Fred offered a HS kid that wasn't a consensus top 100 kid. So I've come around to the idea of signing him for several reasons, primarily he must be underrated, and I like the idea of him riding the pine and waiting his turn at Simeon, he must be a patient kid and understanding that his development may take time. Also, as much as I love the transfers, I do think the program needs some core guys that are 4 year kids, for example guys like Naz Long are extremely valuable even though he may never be a full time starter. Fred has consistently said he and Niang have really set the tone for the program.

As for the kids that transferred, I would absolutely expect other coaches to negatively recruit ISU on it, just like they should Indiana or some other places with some pretty heavy turnover.

Yip. No way SDW is on the roster next year, if he doesn't crack the lineup this year (which I doubt very much he will do).

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. He redshirted so he'll be an immediately eligible 5th year senior. Regardless they have two scholarships to play with right now, and I'd be surprised if they got any of the super highly ranked guys they are after, so I'd be good with a recruiting class of Moss and a transfer big man to sit out while McKay/Niang are seniors and can jump in with a few years of eligibliity afterward.

Lots of kids are undervalued or simply develop later. That is why you see so many good/great players on non P5 teams. All you have to do is watch any college BB and many mid majors have players that are better than many that are on P5 rosters.

Iowa has been on him since he was a So., so hopefully that pays off, and that get him to sign with Iowa.

I think you are pretty close to accurate. I'm not sure he really wants PFs though. I think he'd by happy with 5-6 athletic wings; a couple of witch are a bit taller. I see players like Uhl, Uthoff, and White and those types eventually becoming our "PFs." I do think Fran likes to have true center types for size, rim protection, and rebounding. I'm not sure the traditional low-post, PF has much appeal to Fran.

The "sg" position can be lots of different things in basketball. You can play two points; a point and and a combo; a point and a little 6 foot gunner/shooter; a point and a couple pure wing players.

That was level headed compared to the trolling and idiotic rants of the Clowns in teh Iowa BB recruiting thread. You really think those d!pshits in that thread wouldn't rip Fran, Iowa, and Moss up and down if Fred didn't offer a day later?

Yeah I completely disagree. Anything as severe as you just posted usually is deleted. Agree to disagree I suppose.

SDW is a RS sophomore this season.

You are right, that post would have been deleted, as I attacked ISU fans. That same post attacking Fran, Hawkeye athletes, Hawk fans, or Hawk posters would have been given a thumbs up by all the mods over there.

It also circumvented the language filter and probably will be deleted here. Is making fun of ISU players, fans, posters etc not tolerated here? Excuse me if I don't see a difference.

This thread has been hijacked enough, lets get back on topic. Moss is coming to IC for a visit next weekend I believe. Hopefully Iowa can get him locked up and signed at that time.

I would have deleted it if it was the other way around. Whatever. Carry on.

Back to the topic, sounds like this guy is a good get for whoever lands him.

I agree, but typically Hoiberg won't wait for that development. He clearly wants to recruit guys who are ready to go right away. That's why so many ISU fans were sort of confused by the Moss offer, and makes me think he is pretty much ready to contribute.

Be honest Bryce, ISU fans were confused by the Moss offer, cause Iowa offered before, and all Clowns do is mock and ridicule the Iowa program. When Fred brought in the Greek, all I saw was how awesome that kid was gonna be, and he is the definition of "project".

Moss is on a team that is loaded with 3 top 100 players and some star frosh-soph players, so he is lost in the shuffle until his stock took off this summer. Iowa has been recruiting Simeon players for a couple of years ( Pollard) so Iowa staff knows their roster well. They always have good recruits...every single year. Would be nice to land one and have him enjoy his Iowa experience so we could go back in there again and again.

Moss has said that his dad loves Iowa state for whatever reason. If he doesn't commit to pittsburg this weekend, they could be the team to beat for him.
