Multiple Coaches Leaving the Program

I don't have a good enough knowledge of other programs to know if this is good, bad or average. It seems like Hayden "developed" many more assistants during his time than this.

Yes no doubt Hayden had way more asst leave for better gigs like head coach- more than KF or any other coach for that matter. No idea how KF ranks in that regard but presumably on the lower side.

Just because you don't like KF, doesn't mean you have to be an idiot, does it? You think he is feeling any kind of heat from you, or Barta? Dude has an ironclad contact, and he is gonna get paid, he is under no pressure.

a) I don't like or dislike ferentz as a human being. I love him as I do all people. I think he is a bad d-1a coach.

b) You implied that I am an idiot. Ok, doesn't surprise me that some folks resort to name calling when they encounter someone with a different view point from theirs.

c) But let's develop this some. You implied that I'm an idiot in the above parargraph, while also implying that I was implying that ferentz was making changes because he was feeling the heat. Hhhhhhmmmmmm...................perhaps you should have read my comments completely before jumping to a conclusion. I also stated that he might realize that the program now sucks under his leadership and because of that realization, he may have made the changes as a result.

Just curious, maybe idiots don't read the whole story before making a conlusion?

I know this is foreign to you, but maybe, just maybe KF cares about the football program, sees that it has slipped out of joint since 2009, and is taking the necessary steps to get it fixed, and back up to speed. It started last year, and continued this year, and I'm sure if need be even more next year.

Yeah, that could be. But I will always be consistant while discussing ferentz and why the program now sucks. I've thought for a long time now that he really is delusional. That explains a lot. It's obvious that a big reason why the program is where it is lies in the fact that he has bad asst. coaches now. His success was mainly because he used to have good asst. coaches that both recruited and developed players well. This has not been the case for a while now.

Erb has never impressed me. Some say he is a good recruiter but I think if you put BF in Chicago he'd do just as well if not better. Just my impressions. He has always been attached to positions of great attrition, and not like Kaz who was a deuche, but positions where kids got in trouble. Never had trouble with RB until he took over. He had WR leaving the program at an alarming rate, but now it seems to be fine. I can't say it his fault, but where there is smoke......

I would not be bothered one bit by him leaving.

Do you think it's even a possibility that Marv Cook would consider being a position coach? I'd love for that to happen. He can't make very much money coaching high school. But I also don't know what they'd offer him as a position coach at Iowa.

No clue FC. I'm not even sure anyone is leaving. I would think TE would be a good fit since Raih was working with them, maybe ST.

I was extremely skeptical at first, especially when a first time poster drops in stating they have inside info about coaches leaving yada yada yada. There may be some legs to this though. 'Cuse Rival's writer has Erb on their short list to take the OC job over there. That same Rival's writer in conversation with the Black Heart Gold Pants writers says he's hearing a few coaches on the Iowa staff are gone already or are in the process of leaving.

What about Timmy D. I know he has spent time working with the WRs in the Summer. In a unofficial way.

Does anyone know who on the staff was responsible for coaching the QB that threw for 25 TDs and 3,000 yards last year, but only wound up with 2,249 yards and 7 TDs this year? I'll hang up and listen.

I wouldn't put it past KF to say that his coaches have had opportunities in vague ways.

And if a coach gets an opportunity to become a coordinator at a Div 1AA school, is that being upwardly mobile? Or if you are KOK and you get an opportunity to be the head coach at a DII school, is that the kind of opportunity you are speaking of?

It wasn't just KF it was KOK and Parker that have said they were approached for other jobs or to check on their interest level. I am also pretty sure that Phil Parker said during his DC intro presser that he was offered a DC job at another school in the BT but decided to stay.

I am sure there have been other coaches on staff that have been contacted as well but for whatever reason they decided to stay. You can throw Doyle onto that list as well, it's pretty common knowledge that he has been offered several jobs at other places but decided to stay in IC under KF.

Nothing more nothing less, just disproving the notion that guys on KF's staff haven't had chances to leave over the years.

From Phil Parker's DC intro presser:

Q. You said this was not the first coordinator job you’ve been offered. Did you say that earlier? Were you ever close to leaving here before this?
PHIL PARKER: There was a couple times that I really had to think and mull it over. But it all came back to family. You know, my kids ‑‑ I’ve seen a lot of coaches out there over the 24 years that I’ve been around, talking to them, that they’ve been ‑‑ I know one guy specifically, he had 15 different jobs since 1990. That’s hard for me. I didn’t want that. When I first made the decision to come here 13 years ago, one thing I knew about growing up in Ohio, being in the Big Ten area, going to Michigan State and playing there and playing against Iowa, that the one thing that stood out to me, that coaches stayed here, and there was a reason for that. And not only because they were winning, because this is a great city to be in, and to me it was an opportunity to bring my family here. The education and actually go through high school, through one high school. They went all the way through Wickham to, what is it, Northwest, and now they’re in West High.

It still hurts to read that. It's almost like somebody is telling you a joke that you know is not true.

He must have forgotten how to play football after killing that bear. I wonder if there was some major change in the program that could account for that reduced production? Hmmmmmmmmmm........

You are consistent while discussing KF.......consistently negative. It just gets old, we all get it, you don't like his coaching, you want him out, the programs sucks, he is a terrible D1 coach, KF is delusional, blah, blah, blah.

DOYLE!!!!!

I understand, but you can not expect me not to respond to you when you call me an idiot.

And also when reality is negative, yeah that is what most of the talk will be. Negative is not always bad. I get that you don't wanna read my posts. Feel free not to.

Funny how you responded to only part of my response to you.

There is actually more than just one reason.

Yes, I should have said reasons. The biggest reason was that he was not coached to his strength - think 4th qtr Pitt game 2011 and you'll know what JVB's biggest strength was. Now that was fun to watch.
