Multiple Coaches Leaving the Program

Within the past two years almost everyone on this staff will have been replaced if these rumors are true. 1. You asked for change, you got it. 2. Don't say kf doesn't make changes. 3. Just like with young teams, this type of coaching turnover will likely take time and have huge growing pains. Look for a real tough year next year. The program is a complete mess, those are the facts.

We'll be the wurst team in the big ten

IDK. Depends on the hires. There are many examples of all new (or many new) coaches coming in and the following year being a good year. Urban, Hoke, O'Brien all did fairly well.

IMO these changes would be part of the house cleaning carried over from last year, and like anything, can take time to blossom. ANY change at this point I perceive as good change.

Ferentz may not be as satisfied with the state of his program as he implied at the end of a 4-8 season and is making the changes he feels need to be made behind the scenes. Either that or some coaches are bailing before the ship goes down.

At this point any change is good, IMHO.

i just hope there's nothing bigger and more ominous going on.

Right...dont forget Erb has coached disaster of a ST unit. Seems like we should be pretty excited about this

A bigger don't forget is he coached receivers during the City Boyz fiasco. Seriously, the guy got extremely lucky to be switched to RB coach for Greene's big year. Greene was developed by Jackson. Erb just reaped the benefits. After that, it was all down hill.

I hope Erb is gone. I have not be impressed with anything he has done and am really surprised he has lasted as long as he has. I think we need to bring in a RB coach with previous playing experience that brings immediate credibility. One guy I hope gets a look is Albert Young if Erb is in fact gone. If some of these changes are going to happen it goes to show that Ferentz is willing to make some changes and is capable of looking past some long term relationships for the benefit of the program, something some posters on this forum have said he lacks.

That's one way to look at it and I certainly hope that KF is taking a hard look at weaknesses in the program and making changes. On the other hand, if these separations are voluntary I'm not sure what to think.

Tough to see Kirk firing a bunch of guys who he has been around for awhile, but keeping Greg Davis, a man that would not have needed to be fired, as he was working on a one year contract.

Why is it tough?

These guys are highly compensated, basically anonymous to 90% of the fanbase and need to perform just like any other employee at any other job. If their boss isn't satisfied, he has the right to put the team he wants in place.

As for Davis - I thought he called some good games and I'm withholding judgement until I see another QB. It certainly wasn't a great scheme to begin with, but it wasn't as bad as it looked.

If I was a head coach, I would replace coaches who other teams did not inquire about after a few years.

As far as Albert Young, he has served one year at CU as a technical intern! Seriously?

I am fairly certain that KF has surrounded himself with people who generally don't have the talent to move on intentionally. I think he values continuity (NFL trait) and believes that he can overcome position coaches shortcomings himself, and that he would prefer that to a revolving door.

FWIW - I'm not saying I agree with it, but it is a school of thought that makes sense to me.

Unless KF, KOK, and Phil Parker as liars that would be incorrect. They all have said in the past that KOK and Parker had offers over the years but wanted to stay on under KF.

He hardly ever has since he's been here. You know the only reason he's doing this, if rumor is true, is because he's feeling heat. Or, gee, maybe he's doing it because he finally realizes this program now sucks under his leadership.

maybe KF is a much better coach than most are giving him credit for if he's been able to win in spite of all the crappy assistants he's had the past 14 yrs.... ;) (Norm excluded and Morgan)

I know, I know, he hired them so that still makes him incompetent.

I wouldn't put it past KF to say that his coaches have had opportunities in vague ways.

And if a coach gets an opportunity to become a coordinator at a Div 1AA school, is that being upwardly mobile? Or if you are KOK and you get an opportunity to be the head coach at a DII school, is that the kind of opportunity you are speaking of?

Did anyone really think those position coaches were good? I would hope this change would be good and I certainly don't think it will hurt anything. But we will still have the same defensive system and the 114th rated offensive system. The big things will not change.

Just curious. What do you think Barta would do if ferentz showed up in his office and said he's firing himself? lol

Just because you don't like KF, doesn't mean you have to be an idiot, does it? You think he is feeling any kind of heat from you, or Barta? Dude has an ironclad contact, and he is gonna get paid, he is under no pressure.

I know this is foreign to you, but maybe, just maybe KF cares about the football program, sees that it has slipped out of joint since 2009, and is taking the necessary steps to get it fixed, and back up to speed. It started last year, and continued this year, and I'm sure if need be even more next year.
