Pretty much... Nobody wants to parent anymore. They allow daycares to raise their kids when they are the times in their lives when they are the most influenced. Then when kids are older they want to be their best friends and don't even know how to discipline.Yeah, some University "education program" isn't going to stop this stuff. Our society is going downhill and the number of low quality people and people with "alternate moral standards" is increasing.
I haz this really strong fear that this will be just another Pedo State situation where the powers -that-be turn a blind eye and little, if anything, is done.

Check this article out. It's pretty darn long but needless to say Dantonio and Izzo both are in some hot water. That whole damn school pretty much deserves the death penalty if even some of this is true. I'd heard an ESPN gal yesterday pretty much say that but that was prior to me reading any of this. At the time I heard her I thought she was just bloviating but now... I'm not sure even that'd be enough.
I hope OTL never visits Iowa campus. I would like to think we are cleaner (I am not so naive to think clean), but it does make you wonder what would get turned up if people started asking the tough questions.
I didn't think so either for the same reasons but the more I thought about it this encompasses the entire AD department not just football or one sport. This is literally top to bottom systemic suppression. The more the onion gets unwound here I don't see how the idea of some sort of death penalty can be ignored.
You know...the more I think about it. I like the way Kirk Ferentz runs the Iowa program. Certainly you can't foresee how every kid is going to handle college and the fishbowl of CFB...but it's clear KF instills family, respect, and responsibility in his players. I've been impressed with how these kids handle themselves in public, in the press, and in their personal relationships.
Sure, you have a DWI or two occasionally, and that's serious, believe me...but we aren't hiding the behavior that's going on at MSU. I know it's a recruiting line, but I believe KF is teaching a lot more than football. Ask his graduated players.
This isnt all about parenting. Many of the MSU issues are about college students and cronyism. Abusers are masters and oft smong the most intelligent. It requires do nothing direct enablers.
Now talking not about high up enablers. Honestly how many of you are willing to risk a very secure job and a pension and the risk of bad references that could destroy your career to help people you dont know?
1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys have been abused. A lot of people look the other way. Its not about socio economics. Some of you want to wave the black and gold flag and thump your chest that it was them and not us, which is exactly the mentality that caused this.
How many of you have driven by teenage prostitutes and laugh or think what scums? Human trafficking is an issue we dont deal with.
How many of us push our kids to succeed and if given the opportunity would want their kids a high level program?
Several of you have jokingly said youd like your daughter to carry a certain players baby. You honestlybthink we are different than PSU or MSU fans or that Iowa is somehow different?
Rape is horrible, not funny, and I’m in no way making light of the situation, but your choice of words made me giggle out loud....or you wouldn't have a trail of rapes in the wake of your football team.

In regards to all the crap that went on with the MSU doc and those girls why is it that the parents that send their kids off blindly to allow these people the unfettered access to them to begin with don't have any questions asked of them? I'm just not a fan of sending my child that's a minor off to live with strangers. That in and of itself is just stupid. No gold medal, fame or money is worth what those gals went through is it? By no means is what I'm saying minimizing the docs culpability. I'm just saying without the access to them it's not even possible. It's the simplest solution to it. No complete stranger is going to be alone with my daughter like that. Period. If that prevents her from getting a stupid medal and prevents me from winning the father of the year award so what I'm still down with that because at least she'll still have her innocence.

I agree that parents are definitely culpable. Many of these parents did not even believe their own daughters. I mean what in the natural F? How sick is that? I mean if my daughter claimed something like that and there wasn't sufficient proof for the legal system to handle it. I sure as hell would of. While I don't condone murder, vigilante justice would be very hard to argue with in this case.
As for the circumstances in which these assaults happened. I can't figure out 1 solid reason why there were never multiple people in these rooms. As you said I would never allow my daughter to be in a situation that she was alone with an adult man. It really isn't rocket science.

CBS Sports just showed a sound bite with him. Dantonio puts on his angry scowl look and tries to come off like he is bad ass. He has always been my least fav BIG coach. One look at the guy is all it takes.
I'd even go one step further and say it's maddening. Because who was out there promoting the Payne deal with that young girl? Knowing full well what he'd done as a freshman. I feel the school was out there promoting all that to try and counteract that in some sick twisted way. There are some serious what did you know when did you know it and what'd you do questions that need to be asked and for Izzo to start dodging those like he did the other night and I expect will continue to do is just depressing. If their board has any balls at all about doing the right thing they'd fire both Dantonio and Izzo and then resign themselves. They need a PSU type house cleaning but even more so. That to me is about all that would do it.Most disheartening, to me, was seeing Payne listed among the bunch. He was such a feel-good with that little girl, who subsequently passed away, and their friendship during the Final Four broadcasts. It looked like a "Here-is-a-great-kid-who-knows-real-important-things-in-life-not-just-about-sports" scenario. Now I just wonder if it was all a CYA from him and the school.
It also takes a little shine off D'Antonio and the Arthur Ray situation.
The whole thing is just sad and depressing.
You'd think that would the beginning and end of the conversation.... What a world we live inI agree that parents are definitely culpable.
