Luke Garza Hype Train

That's my point. If you aren't a 5* one and done type, there isn't this batch of "elite" PG. sorry man but we aren't going to get the Alonzo Balls of the world. We can get 4* players though.

That's just stupid. You are comparing Jordan to other PG's but leave out the best of the best while doing it makes no sense. Iowa was in pretty deep with Tyler Ulis who was a 5* recruit, Joe or Patrick could be 5* too by the time they sign. Let's face it you just left them out to help your argument.

So true. The whole point of penetrating is to get points and assists. If Bohannon had trouble getting points and assists, I could see the problem. He doesn't so I don't.

Mike was a penetrator and not surprisingly he has the record for most assists in a season.

Yes, proves the point. Mike struggled with an outside shot so that was the way he contributed and broke down the D. Jo Bo doesn't struggle with the outside shot and opens up the D with it.

Ironically I never viewed Mike as a penetrating PG because that's not the style those Fran teams ran. It's not a drive and dish offense. Mike probably got a lot of those assists passing to player for med range shot, not so much driving, collapsing the D then kicking it out. Those are two totally different kinds of assists.

Mike got a lot of assists from driving and dishing. He drove a lot actually as many posters on here will say he would drive to the rim and get his shot blocked.

It's not surprising at all he holds the record. He started as a freshmen and played in 4 post season tournaments and 4 years of the Big 10 tournament which hasn't been around long. I would bet anything he has the record for most minutes played by a point guard in Iowa history.

Mike was kind of an inbetween penetrator. He often didn't go all the way to the rim and a lot of times when he did get that deep into the lane that wasn't in our favor.. He was pretty good when he got to the free throw line or so and made decisions from there. He was good at those mid range jumpers and dishing from there.

Wait, are you saying he has the record due to his elite penetrating ability?

No I'm saying he has the record because he was a great passer and his ability to penetrate helped him rack up assists. He was pretty darn quick and very athletic.

He was good at changing speeds as well and as for his height, putting it down. I don't think he would be someone I would consider elite when it came to driving and penetrating.

Cy5656 has slammed Fran's PG recruiting ten times over. Now he is apparently back to taking up MG's case. You can't have it both ways when Mike was the PG for the majority of Fran's tenure at Iowa.

This guy is flat out troll who should have already been banned and should be paid zero attention to.

He was great at changing speed. I thought he was going to end up an all time great at Iowa, but unfortunately, there is a lot more to basketball than athletic ability. For whatever reason, his confidence and shooting regressed.

So far all Fran has done in 5656's eyes is get a 4 year starter who was the greatest player in Iowa history, and get a freshmen all Big 10 player who didn't deserve it over a really good player at MSU because his defense, 2 pt%, and fake assists. Those 5 years put point guard recruiting at "by far the worst of any position".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, Cy5656 is making the case that Fran is very good at recruiting PG. Those are his own words.

I wish I could make up all the stupid shit that Cy5656 says, but unfortunately I can only credit the horses mouth himself.

I love how he says Bohannon didn't deserve to be on the Freshmen team because Ward was better. Ward was a really good player last year so even if he was a little better than Bohannon, that would mean Bohannon is still pretty darn good.

Jo Bo also started as a freshman, and he is on pace to surpass Mike's and any others assists.
