Great discussion everyone...I've decided to focus on the scoreboard.

Scoreboard is obviously the most important thing. But I watch football to be entertained. Ferentz ball is rarely entertaining.
Well, if our offense is getting great field position because our defense is good, our points per play should be better because we'd have less plays, and I'm sure it is better!
A good defense should make an offense score more points, not less. Anyone that thinks the opposite is a moron.
This is why I posted our yards per play ranking, which isn't pretty. YPP doesn't matter if you have good or bad field position.
How do we do that if our offense is always getting great field position like Mr. 'average isn't a mean' states? How in the hell do teams like Alabama have such good offensive rankings when their defense is so good?
Seriously, I can't even believe I'm entertaining this idiocy.
That would be the biggest gamble ever, since Texas won a NC and averaged 10.2 wins per seasons while Davis was OC. If you remove the final 5-7 season which is a huge outlier, its 10.6 wins per year. If Ferentz thought, this guy will be a terrible OC, and pave the way for my son, that was a huge gamble.I'm fully convinced that Ferentz brought him in to tell fans to STFU about O'Keefe and to pave the way for Brian bince it was going to be hard to find anyone worse than Davis was.
Texas football was loaded with 5 star talent. Chock full of it. They were the destination for almost every top Texas recruit. And they played a Big 12 schedule where the only legitimate competition was Oklahoma. Tech was good that one year. Everyone else in the South was hot garbage. It was damn clear that they weren't winning with superior offensive scheming. Even the year they won it all, it was all on Vince improvising. But Texas is a tale of trying to take a step up and falling flat on your ass. They'd probably kill for Mack and Greg right about now. That would be the biggest gamble ever, since Texas won a NC and averaged 10.2 wins per seasons while Davis was OC. If you remove the final 5-7 season which is a huge outlier, its 10.6 wins per year. If Ferentz thought, this guy will be a terrible OC, and pave the way for my son, that was a huge gamble.
If a defense is giving the offense the ball sooner, the offense is getting more possessions. FMLThat is exactly the point I was making. Last year's PPG ranking was much better than the YPG. This is because the defense was putting the offense in good starting field positions. Hence when I said that a good defense can lead to fewer yards per game.

I said shorter field, not sooner. But yes FYL.If a defense is giving the offense the ball sooner, the offense is getting more possessions. FML

Thanks TK, for putting all this research together and shining a light on what so many have been blind to, including myself!
I was planning on going to the Wisconsin game with my wife and tailgating with about 30 family members and friends. If it wasn’t for your courage to expose the evil that Kirk and Brian are getting away with (and getting paid for!!), I was actually about to go support it and perpetuate it! Thanks to you, tragedy averted!! It literally makes me nauseous thinking of what I was about to do. You know, Hitler was able to do what he did because good people stood by along the way and did nothing. Thank you for standing up for what’s right and expressing yourself! The world could use more TKSIRIUSES!
I really, really want to go to that Wisconsin game though, to support our players. But you’re right, how can I support the troops when their leaders are evil? I guess I’ll do my best to get all the people called that I was going to the game with. I don’t know if they’ll like it when I tell them they’re idiots if they support those two monsters, but you’ve got me motivated, TK!
And hey, is there a chance you can start another post to let me know if you get all this figured out before the Wisconsin game? I really wanna go!! I know it’s asking a lot for you to fire our HC and OC and replace them with new ones with great numbers in less than two weeks, but I know you’ve got what it takes! If Kirk and Brian are gone before the Wisconsin game, I’ll plan on going if that’s ok with you. Just let me know.
Thanks for making me realize that I can make the world a better place. You’re winning at life, TK! You’re winning!!
Thanks!!
Take care
Thank You!!!!!!

2025 was quite entertaining. Even the Rose had something about it Rarely do you see a team be so unprepared. The last Florida game was like looking at an accident.Scoreboard is obviously the most important thing. But I watch football to be entertained. Ferentz ball is rarely entertaining.
I hate to admit this in circles like this, but I rather enjoy the cardiac hawks. I love stingy punishing defense. I'm not sure if I knew it until right this minute, but I think I also love that every time we manage to score a TD or have a big play my heart jumps out of my chest.
I constantly wish for a high powered offense to match our stellar defense, and I believe we have had a few that were darn close. If we had it year in and year out though I honestly think I might miss the 4 hour agonizing suspense of Hawkeye football.
You Ferentz family cuckolding homers are what's wrong with Iowa football. Thanks TK, for putting all this research together and shining a light on what so many have been blind to, including myself!

You Ferentz family cuckolding homers are what's wrong with Iowa football.
You're the kind of folk you see at I-Club events waiting in line to get Kirk's autograph, hands trembling, voice cracking, and with the wide open googly-eyes when you get to the front of the line, only to get tongue tied and tilt like a pinball machine. "Hello sir, Mr. Ferentz sir...could you spare an autograph, sir, for my son, his name is 'BoiseDB.' I just want to tell you, sir, that we sure do appreciate what you do out on that football field every Saturday, sir." A regular old Bob Cratchit, waiting in line begging Ebeneezer Scrooge to save his son's life in "A Christmas Carol."
You're like a 12 year old Justin Bieber fan ready to bust into tears at the first whiff of Kirk's cologne. Only that wouldn't be nearly so weird as you being a 55 year old man asking an even older guy for his autograph.
Sorry for the drama there, but your type of fan are the worst type of pukes, and since you felt the need for embellishment I thought I'd just play along.

Never said he had control, just that he’s a douche.Trust me when I say this. Fans have zero to do with Iowa football. There are about 30 boosters who control the fate of Iowa football coaches. Exactly zero of those people are members of this forum. A full fan revolt will never happen. It's just not.
I can understand that you want Iowa football to be a Lamborghini, but we are just more F150. Every blue moon we roll out with a platinum edition, but most years we are just XLT. I would not advise holding your breath waiting for some giant makeover, because I just don't believe it will happen.
P.S. I wonder what the fan bases of the 80% of the teams that Iowa routinely finishes better than would say Iowa's "problem" is. It seems like you are spoiled by years of above average results and are blinded by desire for bigger and better. If it wouldn't involve my own and Iowa's players pain and suffering, I kind of wish that you and all like minded fans got a few years dose of Nebraska's reality. They once believed that the mountain top was theirs. They also believed that they were 1 awesome coach away from regaining elite status. Don't look to hard at that green grass on the other side, because 1 day I fear that we all look back at these last 40 years and wish we could return to that.
Whoa there, bud. XLTs are damned nice trucks. I'll not have you denigrate them in this manner.I can understand that you want Iowa football to be a Lamborghini, but we are just more F150. Every blue moon we roll out with a platinum edition, but most years we are just XLT.
