Iowa OC/DC Rankings Since 1999

Neutral in the sense that I wouldn't get rid of him because I don't think there's a better available replacement. Getting rid of KF would begin the musical coaches game that Nebraska has going on right now.

BF on the other hand I'd ship to China by nightfall if I had the power.

Is your disdain for Brian the fact that he was fast tracked because of his blood line? Is it all based on his 15 games of play calling? Or is it that you Just really hate his hair style. Please give me the deets on what it is that you hate so much.

The answer to this should be obvious. Iowa fans deserve better.

Trust me when I say this. Fans have zero to do with Iowa football. There are about 30 boosters who control the fate of Iowa football coaches. Exactly zero of those people are members of this forum. A full fan revolt will never happen. It's just not.

I can understand that you want Iowa football to be a Lamborghini, but we are just more F150. Every blue moon we roll out with a platinum edition, but most years we are just XLT. I would not advise holding your breath waiting for some giant makeover, because I just don't believe it will happen.

P.S. I wonder what the fan bases of the 80% of the teams that Iowa routinely finishes better than would say Iowa's "problem" is. It seems like you are spoiled by years of above average results and are blinded by desire for bigger and better. If it wouldn't involve my own and Iowa's players pain and suffering, I kind of wish that you and all like minded fans got a few years dose of Nebraska's reality. They once believed that the mountain top was theirs. They also believed that they were 1 awesome coach away from regaining elite status. Don't look to hard at that green grass on the other side, because 1 day I fear that we all look back at these last 40 years and wish we could return to that.
The fans will never revolt en masse. But they will continue to trickle out a little at a time. KF has no coaching tree for Iowa to fall back on, like Hayden did. Unless Brian Ferentz somehow becomes competent, he'll run the program right into the 4 wins a year category, if he ends up with the gig. I'd bet hard cash on that outcome.

A, B, and C, emphasis on B.

I've seen us go entire quarters without a first down....stats be damned that's just pathetic.

All of us know that the Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band plays the Iowa FIght Song when the Hawks score a TD or a FG. My brother's last year at Iowa was Hayden Fry's first year. He said there were games they played it on first downs because they didn't score at all.... and they only played it a few times for first downs. I've seen us go entire games with only one or two first downs. Yes, Iowa was that bad before Hayden got here.

LOTS of CAPS there, PIGGY!!!

If it's such a crucial stat to winning ball games then why do so many successful teams average fewer plays? And I don't mean slightly more successful, these are CFP and national championship teams.
Yeah, some teams are stopped by end zones more than by the other team. Some play more consistently on short fields and don't have go as far to score.

Other teams beat their heads against the wall and don't get anywhere. All sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Yes, and my biggest concern is if we do get a quality coach or succession of coaches to come here after Kirk retires, they will either be using Iowa simply as a stepping stone or devolving us into Illinois.

Maybe a former player will answer the bell and we will have a Pat Fitzgerald type coaching situation, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of those on the horizon either.

It's difficult to envision a name coach without Iowa ties wanting to come here. A lot has changed in the landscape in 40 years. And who knows how many would shy away simply because of Barta.

EDiT:. I would have no problem with Iowa becoming a "stepping stone" job if that's what it took to keep us relevent or make us more relevant. I made a similiar comment about basketball a while back. So I should amend my first comment by saying that. Just make sure the coach is all in for Iowa and all in on recruiting during the time he is here.

Finished this thread. I want all of you, every last one of you, to go get stoned. Or get a drink. Maybe 2. Maybe you need to slide your cheat meal up a day to today. Hump the old lady (or old man) before bed. Jerk off to some lousy internet porn. Pray. Set some shit on fire. Shoot your gun (not at anyone, but a plastic replica or some empty beer cans)

But seriously, let this thread die. What a shitshow.

If posting here, better come armed and loaded. Then take said steps, as necessary.

Yep I'm old enough to remember those days that's why watching our "paint dry" offense triggers epileptic seizures. BTW I'm a fan of taking every second to run plays. I'm NOT advocating putting our D out there for 120 plays so I understand controlling tempo.

UHHH hello they have better talent 2 deep. We didn't smash Ohio State with that look on offense chief.

Did say it was the only thing but to just dismiss it out of hand is ridiculous more possession and plays generally lead to more scoring opportunities.

Hey, I hate his hair style. Game one it looked like he was sporting the North Korea Cut. NOT stylish or attractive by any measurement.

Iowa offense reminds me of the Bob Commings era - before Hayden.
One of the biggest differences between KF and BC records is that KF has a much softer non-con schedule.
KF is only slightly above .500 in B10 play. If he had the non-con level opponents BC had, he would have had a number of losing seasons instead of 7-5 or even 8-4.Might even be long gone.

Wisconsin does pretty well with a pretty similar offense. Wisconsin actually runs the ball a lot more than Iowa but they do it more effectively. Wisconsin is usually running the ball close to 65-70% of the plays and we're at 55-60%. They typically have much bigger OL and use less finesse blocking style. Those years we're over 60% are also our best years (2002,2003,2008,2015). Given we're also able to run effectively those years.
