I'm done.

What did you expect when you title your thread as you did?

You wanted a reaction from posters and you got it.

So it's titled poorly. Am I being led to believe that if I'd titled the thread "I'm done with the hype," and changed nothing about the body of the post, that my loyalty wouldn't be in question? Please.

Your loyalty is in question because someone named tm3308 is the biggest butt sniffer in the history of message boards over on CryFan.

Which only makes it clear that you don't read my posts over there. Deanvogs and I have both gotten into plenty of pretty heated disagreements with the natives over there.

how many times in the last 35 years has Iowa won 3 conference games in a row? I can name 1 time in recent memory....that was this year. before that ....go back to 1986 (maybe).

My point, is that people's expectations are too high.

Your loyalty is questionable due to your apparent love for the Clones. Anyone who cheers consistently (not just when it benefits one team or the other) for both teams is a fan of neither.

Its also the fact that you feel it is your duty to defend the Clones over here and let it be known that you cheer hard for ISU when they are not playing Iowa. We dont care.

You're right. I don't read your posts there. But I know that any fan of any team other than Iowa State can last for no more than 20 posts there unless they heap substantial amounts of praise on all things Iowa State. Keep deanvogs out of this.

I can totally picture this guy walking around the mall in a half Lafester Rhodes, half Les Jepsen jersey. And then I can picture him talking bad about the Hox whenever he meets some Clown fans.

Don't see how I can, seeing as how he's got over 1000 posts over there. There are several other guys there who definitely don't kiss ***, but they've been around there forever.

I don't "cheer hard" for ISU. Hell, I've only watched them play a couple times this year. I just like to see both schools do well; it's great for the state to have two great teams. All I try to do is be fair. I criticize Iowa when it's fair, I defend them when it's fair (on both sites). I do the same in regards to ISU. Refusing to blindly hate them is hardly something I'd consider a vice.

At the end of January we are a team that has only lost to top 25 teams and those were close contests

I am far more interested in who we are in March. Will we use these disappointments as a catalyst for peaking at the right time (March)? There is a lot to be said for learning that you have to bring it every game when playing tough teams.

Look, guy. I'll support (but never be an actual fan of) Northwestern because I live really close to their facilities and they never really compete with Iowa for recruits due to their crappy facilities and tough admission standards. But Iowa State, on the other hand, directly competes with Iowa for recruits. Iowa has very little in state talent and the last thing we need is ISU to be good and siphon off every decent player coming out of Iowa (but I have no problem with Northwestern taking stiffs like Abrahamson and giving an Iowa kid a free education in exchange for 4 years of awful basketball playing). Cheering for Iowa State is worse than cheering for the Taliban or the Russian guy in Rocky IV. You just don't do it.

i never got caught up in the hype I expected 8-10 losses this year.......This team could make a deep run in the tournament or they could get bounced in the opening weekend. This was a frustrating loss, even more so than ISU and Villanova.......i guess this is probably the final indicator that something is missing, that missing element will prevent this year from being really special.

My frustration was the fan base being way to cocky about Mich State. All the Twitter activity yesterday about hoping the kids didn't storm the court because be are bigger than that. Really? Let start by winning the game and then worry about how to handle it.

Saying I'm done expecting them to take the next step is not the same thing as saying I'm done supporting them. I'm just going to take them for what they are, instead of expecting them to be something more because of all the hype.

Some people take this way too seriously! I said something similar yesterday stating that I did not think Iowa would pull it out and got called a troll, stupid, and swear (****) words by some who need a larger vocabulary ect... The passion is good, the hype is fun, but in Realville we react by making judgements based on personal observation, not what we are told to think by the "experts" on TV or these message boards.

But how is this good for the Iowa Hawkeyes?

It's not. IMO, it's best if Iowa is THE program in the state. As Okeefe pointed out, there's no benefit in splitting the state's top recruits with ISU when we could have them all come to Iowa instead.. Those who don't leave to play for Roy Williams, that is.
