Dayton vs. Illinois (in case you want to see Gregory)

They play in a one bid league. UNI didn't beat any good teams in the regular season either.

UNI would have gotten in the tourney without winning their conference tourney.

They probably would have had to make it to the championship, maybe not even that.

I think Gregory's style of play would be fully embraced comming from what type of bball the Hawks have played the last three seasons. Fast paced basketball will put butts in the seats of Carver very quickly. I hope he is one of Barta's top candidates. I think the Izzo thing is a little bit of a wild card. However, If you would rather coach in the A10 as opposed to the Big 10 you are kidding yourself. Plus, who wouldn't wanna hang out with The Capitan.

Best wishes,

Come on, stormin. There's a lot of down side to this PR. One of those losses at home was to St. Louis. When it mattered. Blew a 12 point lead to Xavier. When it mattered.
See it from both sides. Being a Dayton grad, I do.

Oh, I absolutely see it from both sides, but if I am going to pimp a coach, I have to be forcing the good stuff on everyone. :)

Probably, but that wasn't really my point. The A-10 and MVC are both one bid leagues. Unless someone else won the tournament, UNI was going to be only team that got in. Same applies to the A10, I'd be shocked if their representative in the tournament didn't win their conference tournament.

And if we hire him, I'll be there at the presser. In a Dayton sweatshirt. I'm beginning to see the light. But you have to argue with yourself first. Being a Dayton fan is a lot like being an Iowa fan. A helluva lot of disappointments. Not tonight, though. On to the Big Apple!

The A10 getting 3 bids actually hurt Dayton. They were in the Top 35 in Pomeroy, and they had a better RPI than Minnesota or Florida (both at large bids).

If Dayton didn't lose those two final reg season games, they'd have been a bit closer to getting a bid.

Does anyone know if the Carver score board still goes past 80 on the home side of the scoreborad? Sure would like to find out someday!

Cougill would need to wear a puke bucket with him in order to get into the shape he would need to get into to play for Gregory.

I wonder if the Izzo connection could actually help, as he may posture to be upset with Lickliter being dumped, he also would be good counsel on what would be required to succeed, and what to ask for in contract negotiations.
