Dayton vs. Illinois (in case you want to see Gregory)

Wow--offensive rebounding. What a concept! We used to do that at Iowa...

I like what I see of Gregory's style a great deal, and he obviously values athleticism.

I hope we can get in there somehow. I don't think he's said anything yet that would rule it out...just that he's committed to Dayton and they're committed to him. Now, if he said, "I wouldn't be interested in the Iowa job if it were the last $%#*&(!@ job on Earth," I would consider that possibly a bad sign for our chances. ;)

We used to have athletes for players, too.

Did I hear correctly that Dayton has SEVEN SENIORS?

That, my friends, is a good time to get outta Dodge!
Gregory has a top flight PG out of Oak Hill in the class coming in.
He is also recruiting Trey McDonald out of Battle Creek (the same Trey McDonald that Iowa has also offered).

If we had the 12 guys committed to come next year plus one more, I think we could play a running game. A lot of it is mindset; you just go. Now there might be a player or two who would have trouble, but it would be more successful than this year's style.

Seth Davis says no. Andy Katz says yes. Some people I've talked to say yes.

I have no idea.

Just like the last coaching search... I have no idea.

I have no idea either, Spanky. But bear in mind that Katz's "yes" was based on Dochterman's "not verifiable" from yesterday. Go figure.

There are seven seniors on their seventeen man roster. That leaves ten returnees. Still a good time for him to leave, I think. Like what I see of his style.

And for those that might want to stereotype any of the athletes that Gregory has had at Dayton - every single senior on Brian's team has graduated college.

It's a fair question why a team with that talent isn't in the NCAA tournament. In their game against Cincy, Jimmy ***** said it was the fact that their PG with the dreads tended to go off the reservation at inopportune times--like that bad pass he threw into the Illannoy bench near the end of the first half tonight, but got bailed out on by the refs.

Im not gonna lie, I was not to impressed when I heard this guys name, but I like what I see from his team so far tonight, athletic, play hard, get up and down the court, who would hawkeyenation rather have Gregory or Forbes, if it came down to those 2? It sure wouldnt hurt if he could bring that top flight point guard to Iowa with him ;)

HawkeyeBBall and I have been on the Brian Gregory bandwagon since Day 1. He might not want to come, as he's tight with Izzo and maybe he doesn't want to compete against him or maybe because Izzo didn't like the way Lick was let go. I have no idea if he'd be interested. But Gregory is guy that's always been on my list and will remain on it... just behind Pearl. :)

I think the A 10 was better then usual this year, Xavier, Temple, Richmond all in the tourney, Rhode Island, Dayton, Saint Louis in the NIT i think? Am I missing anybody?

You have won me over Stormin. I think Gregory should be our target. The guy has won 20+ games each of the past three years. He is a Big 10 ball coach, with Big 10 connections, and recruits the Big 10. He coaches in the A-10 which is a pretty good conference. He seems to have figured out the recruiting game, as he is recruiting well now. And he has been head coach in relatively good conference for 7 years, allowing him plenty of time to learn on the job and improve. I think he is probably ready to come here and make us competitive again, hopefully he would want to come.
