Christian Williams Leaving Team

Williams is not more athletic than Dailey in my opinion
I saw Williams grab a rebound go coast to coast and dunk on a guy last yr. I haven't seen Dailey do anything quite like that yet. Maybe he is pretty athletic and hasn't gotten a chance to showcase it more yet. Till I see Dailey do something somewhat similar I'll have to maintain my 2 cents on CW being more athletic for now. He's for sure a better shooter with better touch I'll give him that

You really think McCaffery needs to evaluate his own son? He's been watching him play since the day he could first pick up a ball.
In regards to playing against other D1 talent I bet he does.. Till your out there under the bright lights it's not a forgone conclusion he'll be a rock star out there. I bet Fran has a dang good idea and it'll be way closer to being right than any of our guesses due to just what you said but again the kid still has to go do it against guys 2,3 and 4 yrs older then him.

Its to bad Williams was injured this summer. He does have high potential. I'm sure Iowa will be able to replace him, but he would of been fun to watch.

Showed flashes as freshmen and seemed like he could become a 2nd unit leader or defensive specialist. Though would be tough being him if he lost that role so understand why he would go.

I watch a lot of Iowa basketball, most games twice and I don’t recall that ever happening. He had a nice steal and dunk vs. Indiana, he sort of dunked on a guy at Rutgers. Either way the point remains he was pretty athletic.

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with Dailey’s athleticism if he gets some minutes this year.

We're not playing against D1 talent in the exhibition games, are we?

If they are relying on Ellingson to be a backup PG then we are in trouble. He needs to come off screens and shoot. Williams is going to prove to be a bigger loss than it seems right now. A 6'6 guard that can defend and guard the other team's top guard is rare. I would say Connor is probably in line for those minutes. If it is Ellingson....uh oh.

What do you suggest as a solution.....?

I think it happened in one of the first games last year. Maybe even an exhibition.

absolutely does... against better competition and to also see where he fits in with the rest of the team. He's also not the only coach.

Also - good coaches are evaluating every player on the team during all 4 years of eligibility. I know it's impossible and will never happen from the fans, but from a coaching stand point, Fran's kids are going to get the exact same treatment as every other player that comes into the program.

You don't think a father would be skewed toward's his own son?

Really?
I don't think its possible for any coach to be fair with their own children involved. They might lean one way or the other. Ferentz is a pretty good example. Look how he set his own kids up as players in the program, and then fired a lot of assistant coaches so he could bring his own kid in as the offensive line coach. He hired a guy that was about to retire as the offensive coordinator so he could elevate his kid into that position. If I remember correctly Iowa was a losing program for a couple of years when he first brought his kid in. Its nice he was able to make his son a multi millionaire at the expense of the Iowa football fans.

I haven't read through all the posts but am I the only one that thought Christian played D like a forward? His lateral movement was very slow. I thought he really was a forward playing guard. I wish him the best, very likeable player but I just couldn't see him ever being the blow by lockdown player Iowa is looking for. I'm thinking he was looking at being the 11th player on the rotation.

With his latest injury he might have been a step slow while completely healing. He definitely lost a lot of practice time. He is a talented guy.

Why do you continue to feed him if he is a troll?

You call it feeding him. I call it drawing attention to a troll, and giving him enough rope to hang himself. As a Clown troll he couldn't help but feed on my bait, exposing him for what he is. He stands out so much as a Clown troll that Rob has warned him a couple times, and he has to stay in check or be banned.

So in short, your welcome, I have neutered the Clown Troll.

Probably the exact same number as the numbers of racist posters...
How is stating an observation that has to do with race considered racist? There is nothing in his sentence that could be considered derogatory. If you make an inference into one, you're the racist.

As a banker, Dodd Frank will soon require me to ask people what their race is when they apply for a HELOC. Is that racist?
I feel like people these days claim racism any time somebody mentions race. It's getting old.

Ferentz's kids did quite well as players at Iowa. James played in the NFL and Brian got a sniff. You have a problem with that? And who were these coaches that were fired so Kirk could bring in Brian? I don't remember any coaches being fired besides d-line coach Rick Kascenski before Brian came in. And he needed to be gone. You're letting you Ferentz hate cloud your thinking.

JB can’t get hurt. Moss has to take the next step. Those 2 things are the most important if Iowa is to have a successful season. If Moss has major struggles there could be problems.
