Christian Williams Leaving Team

I still had hopes he would be a good contributor this year. Hopefully this is because he lost his backup point guard spot.

The Indiana game at home was the guy I was hoping he was going to become. He had 10 points, about 4 or 5 assists and was a lockdown defender at crucial parts of that game. Btw, JB scored 20 in that game I believe.

It was the Ying/Yang approach that I was hoping CW/JB would become. Now that isn’t going to happen I think it puts more pressure on Moss to be more consistent.

Ferentz's kids did quite well as players at Iowa. James played in the NFL and Brian got a sniff. You have a problem with that? And who were these coaches that were fired so Kirk could bring in Brian? I don't remember any coaches being fired besides d-line coach Rick Kascenski before Brian came in. And he needed to be gone. You're letting you Ferentz hate cloud your thinking.
Even though this is a basketball forum, I'm going to take a stab at this. Kirk hired a couple of coaches, one of which was an OC. He made him offensive line coach. Brian, whose forte is offensive line coach, was named OC. Doesn't that make you scratch your head just a little bit? Oh, and I have no problem with Kirk.

Williams scored 10 that game, Bohannon only scored nine, only made one shot with 6 free throws (four in OT). Pretty sure that's the game where Fran benched JB at the half and CW started the second half. When Bohannon scored 20 plus last year we were 1-4, only winning at Maryland.

You may be right, but I could have sworn he had 20 that night. I will go back and check the boxscore.

How is stating an observation that has to do with race considered racist? There is nothing in his sentence that could be considered derogatory. If you make an inference into one, you're the racist.

As a banker, Dodd Frank will soon require me to ask people what their race is when they apply for a HELOC. Is that racist?
I feel like people these days claim racism any time somebody mentions race. It's getting old.

Did you read what the racist said?

Yeah, you are right. The same idea still applies I was hoping he would be a complement to JB.

To be honest, the fact that CW is transferring doesn't surprise me. The timing, however, does .. .. to a point. A while back (April? May?) I asked the question whether or not someone would transfer AFTER the European trip would transfer. The answer was that it would be too late for someone to find a home.

While I accepted the answer at the time, It was my believe that if someone left the team, they would do so before the season/school year, but I let it slide.

I agree that CW probably read the writing on the wall. To leave the team now is actually a good thing for him AND the Hawkeyes. If I'm hearing/reading correctly, he will complete the academic semester while opening up his search. That's a smart thing to do. As I said, the timing surprised me, but after thinking about it, It's a good move on his part.

The bottom line is that while I'm sorry to see him go, I believe it is the best for both parties. Good luck CW!!

My 2¢ .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

Connor will play basketball and RS in baseball this year.

Is this official official? I mean, coming from Rob, I have to think that it is, but I haven't seen it really reported any where as a done deal?

Also, I liked Williams, he just wasn't IMO, ever going to be able to play the roll Iowa needed him to play. I actually think Iowa just got a lot better at PG this season.

I believe it's role, not roll moron.

You call it feeding him. I call it drawing attention to a troll, and giving him enough rope to hang himself. As a Clown troll he couldn't help but feed on my bait, exposing him for what he is. He stands out so much as a Clown troll that Rob has warned him a couple times, and he has to stay in check or be banned.

So in short, your welcome, I have neutered the Clown Troll.

It's feeding. I wondered how a player that is little used could get to be such a big thread. Now I know. Side show.

He probably had some hope going into this year as he brought some skills to the table that Iowa has been missing. With the ball, he is one of the few that could break down a D. He could read the floor quite well with one exception. His D on steals was pretty good. Small school players (he played against the equivalent of a Lone Tree or Tri County) have a hard time adjusting to the speed of the D with passing. Don't think his passing ever caught up to the speed of the D. AAU isn't about defense.

Is this a fact or opinion?

Weird spot to drop news of that magnitude if true. I haven’t seen anything on twitter or any other hawkeye websites.

Probably not at all surprising given that it sounds like Brady has not been practicing at PG at all and the Williams departure came as a surprise to the staff.

That's exactly why I asked because I don't see that being reported ANY where but on this thread. Or somehow I missed it.
