CFN projects 0-8 for Iowa in the Big Ten Conference.

There's lots of BTN $$$$ for each school that Iowa could afford the buyout.
If Kirk does leave and takes the buyout, his legacy will be permanently stained as being greedy.
If he leaves and voids the buyout, he'll be just a tiny tier below Hayden Fry in adoration from the fan base.
Attendance will determine how long Kirk stays.

I'm also not optimistic about winning in Ames.
Kirk is 2-5 in Ames and he needed top 10 teams (2003 and 2009) to get those 2 wins.

lulz...The buyout isnt even going to be a factor. If Iowa goes 0-12 in 2013 KF is still the coach in 2014 unless he decides to retire.

And also, KF > Hayden.

"False. They will go 2-2, and that assumes a win over Western Michigan, a game they could easily end up losing, and based on historical trends, probably will."

Uh huh. These guys went 4-8 last year and graduated half of their defense and offense. And now their new coach is bringing them to Iowa City. Ok.

Do you understand how bad Central Michigan was? There are no given wins if Kirk is the coach. NONE

there is this one team in the big ten who produces a lot of NFL talent but loses to Minnesota, Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue, and Iowa State on a regular basis.

Is that the team that has produced the 2nd most NFL draft picks from the BIG from '01-'11 while at the same time having the 3rd most wins? Sounds like a terrible program.

Think of how good they could be if they

1. could cover onside kicks

2. Beat the worst teams in the country on a regular basis.

3. Understand a 2 min drill

4. Not punt when inside the opp 40 yard line

5. Try to be a little sexy.....snort .....sometimes

6. Take notes of how other offenses run.

But instead most of the Iowa fan base would rather

1. We dont have the talent (yet protect kirk by saying how many players hes put in the NFL)

2. Just little ole Ioway(Yet Kinnick is one of the best home fields and everything else is new)

3. You couldnt do better.

So think what Iowa could be if they had a coach that could do the little things that make a program good. Instead Iowa wants to pay a Oline coach from Maine 4 mil a year and look the other way has he send the program into a nose dive because he cant run a team and lost the coaches that could.

Johnny Football had exactly ZERO D1 snaps, and won the Heisman.

So there.

I suppose you think that's a common occurrence.

If great results can be expected out of players with no experience, then the "young team" excuse does not fly. Either that, or we should not expect too much out of our 1st year QB's. Can't have it both ways - take your pick.

I can not believe so many people have bought into the dog and pony show that the UofI has put on this spring. I will believe the change in product when I see it played passed the month of September. If someone guaranteed me 6 wins now I would take it in a heartbeat. If someone guaranteed 2 wins and KF gone I would give it some serious thought. Simple fact is no matter the record KF is here for another 2 years minimum. So we can stop complaining now about KF.
This is where I'm at. It's no coincidence that we saw a live-action scrimmage vs the routine practice drills on Saturday. It's no coincidence the offense was very up-tempo and actually more consistently entertaining and productive than any game (except Minny) in all of 2012. Saturday was a deliberate attempt to quell the fan disgust toward the offense and GD / rekindle the interest and anticipation for 2013. I'm okay with that, tho. I take that as a sign that they feel and hear it and are trying to demonstrate doing something about it.

On that note, I don't really care about the record, per se, but it's simply time to consistently see it on the field.

It's time to stop talking about how "player x" is a weapon and then not utilize him. It's time to stop talking about the "verticality in all plays" and then throw horizontally 75% of the time. It's time to stop trying to convince us the scheme put the team in the best position for success and then run the same, stale rush into the the teeth of an 8-man box. It's time to stop trying to convince us the personnel give us the best chance to win as we watch them fail to execute play after play, game after game.

Again, I'm not predicting nor expecting 'x' number of W's. I am impatiently waiting for a product that at least attempts to be competent and competitive. Whether they win or lose will play out but at least play a watchable, winning style of football.

EXACTLY.
Come September it will be back to struggling for first downs against the Vinton School for the Blind.
Ferentz refuses to punish inferior football teams, and as a result, when they find themselves in a tight game in the fourth qtr, they develop confidence and we get shaky and desperate.

When Ferentz loses all these "close" games in the 4th qtr, he really lost them in the first quarter.

Mind-boggling. The things that go on or don't go on during games baffle me for a team that plays in the bigten, has a well paid staff that has 'coaches' who have coached for years, and has nice facilities. Doesn't this staff get paid to make the right decisions, coach these kids year round, and RECRUIT??

Kirk needs to find his new Brett bielema who wants to recruit, likes kids and their interests. We need someone who can relate and connect to 17-18 year olds to build relationships. Most only worry about 3 maaaaybe 4 things..clothes, money, and girls for sure and some music. We need some young, energetic, personable recruiter who isn't an effing fuddy duddy who wants to prove himself. He doesn't have to make a fortune, just give him an opportunity to prove himself/succeed and move up in the program. Maybe some of the new guys on the staff, like White are those guys...shiz maybe his son-in-law is that guy..

P.s- DOYLE!!

Your sarcasm detector, it's broken.

The last time we played Western Michigan they finished 5-7 and kicked our ***** up and down the field on senior day. How stupid are you, exactly?

Changing football coaches usually means 3 down years. Right now I think we have one more down year (this one) and the pieces are in place to be successful after that (9 wins, maybe more). Not only that, but I think this down year will be more in line with normal Iowa down years (6 wins).

But more importantly CAAR's 3 good, 3 bad cycle says we will improve. ;)

How do you figure only 1 year left with yer 3 year trend idea?? I'm confused..didn't we just get a crap ton of new coaches this past offseason? Sooo wouldn't that mean we have 3 more years of this dog and pony show?

According to CAAR, KF has a 3 good years, 3 bad years trend. '08, '09, '10 Good. '11, '12, '13 bad. That would put us back to the good in '14.

Not my theory, but it is pretty well known around these parts.
