CFN projects 0-8 for Iowa in the Big Ten Conference.

So why wouldnt there be a HC change?

Changing football coaches usually means 3 down years. Right now I think we have one more down year (this one) and the pieces are in place to be successful after that (9 wins, maybe more). Not only that, but I think this down year will be more in line with normal Iowa down years (6 wins).

But more importantly CAAR's 3 good, 3 bad cycle says we will improve. ;)

I never implied nor do I believe that he feels heat from on here. I doubt he even knows this exists. I mean that he feels the heat from how bad he let the program fall. And maybe he feels some heat from the big time boosters. Barta carries no weight, but you can bet in their meetings he's brought it up to ferentz.

You said, "There is no heat coming from the fan base, and no heat coming from the media."

Now that is truly sad with as bad shape as this program is in now and has been for a few years.

All coaches feel pressure to win. I think that after Norm and OK, KF started to remake the staff, and that continued after the year was complete when he got rid of some position coaches. I think it is easy to see that this is the case. Of course one could say ultimately that those changes were made because he felt "heat" to win. I get that. I guess I'm talking about the fact that I doubt he made changes to the staff because he felt the natives (fans) were demanding that, or demanding changes in the program.

I think this year will tell us a lot more about the condition of the program. If we are at .500, I think we are fine, as next year ('14) is the year we will have experience all over the field, and much more talent on the field. If we have a 3 or 4 win season this year, then I think it will be much harder to expect much at all.

I'll express my thoughts about ferentz without regard to how it bothers you. You are the one that initiated this one. You said that I'd donate to kirk's buyout. Yep, would if I could. And I'll keep on commenting about him and Iowa football no matter how much you cry about it.

Still hope you keep trying to shut me up. Kinda funny watching you fail horribly at that.

Not trying to shut you up. Just pointing out how little you matter in all of this.

I love the poster that thinks he can initiate change on srs website.

Preach on freed, I'm sure somebody here gives a damn what you think.......maybe.

I can not believe so many people have bought into the dog and pony show that the UofI has put on this spring. I will believe the change in product when I see it played passed the month of September. If someone guaranteed me 6 wins now I would take it in a heartbeat. If someone guaranteed 2 wins and KF gone I would give it some serious thought. Simple fact is no matter the record KF is here for another 2 years minimum. So we can stop complaining now about KF.

How dare you proclaim my insignificance. :D

Read all the reviews from the Spring game. A bunch of young more athletic players that are not quite ready. Some will play this year to get seasoning. Some will work in on special teams. In 2014 they will start and Iowa will be closer to matching the better talent in the conference.

"False. They will go 2-2, and that assumes a win over Western Michigan, a game they could easily end up losing, and based on historical trends, probably will."

Uh huh. These guys went 4-8 last year and graduated half of their defense and offense. And now their new coach is bringing them to Iowa City. Ok.

I'm generally not a big believer in "bulletin board material". This may be an exception.

Last season should be all the "bulletin board material" anybody inside the football complex needs. And hopefully somebody in the AD's office as well.

The clowns are predicting a 42-10 victory so I guess that's one less win haha.

I could see how those idiots would draw that conclusion after blowing out the worst Iowa team in the past 15 years 9-6. I forgot, they did win 6 games last year so for them that's like coming off a national championship.

Late to the party here, but what the OP posted as "likely" (4-8), is exactly what I'm predicting for this season. Given the question marks on offense, particularly with a QB who has exactly ZERO D1 snaps (no matter who starts), and a tougher schedule this year, and also assuming the Big Ten can't be as bad as it was last year (can it?).. I think the team could actually be improved but the record may not show it based solely on the schedule.

Although regarding QB, it's hard to imagine the play at that position could really be any worse than it was a year ago. If the passing game isn't markedly improved this year, our opponents will be able to sell out to stop the run, having no fear of being beaten by the deep ball, which means jack for offense again this year.

One would think these would be plenty of bulletin board material

This is where I'm at. It's no coincidence that we saw a live-action scrimmage vs the routine practice drills on Saturday. It's no coincidence the offense was very up-tempo and actually more consistently entertaining and productive than any game (except Minny) in all of 2012. Saturday was a deliberate attempt to quell the fan disgust toward the offense and GD / rekindle the interest and anticipation for 2013. I'm okay with that, tho. I take that as a sign that they feel and hear it and are trying to demonstrate doing something about it.

On that note, I don't really care about the record, per se, but it's simply time to consistently see it on the field.

It's time to stop talking about how "player x" is a weapon and then not utilize him. It's time to stop talking about the "verticality in all plays" and then throw horizontally 75% of the time. It's time to stop trying to convince us the scheme put the team in the best position for success and then run the same, stale rush into the the teeth of an 8-man box. It's time to stop trying to convince us the personnel give us the best chance to win as we watch them fail to execute play after play, game after game.

Again, I'm not predicting nor expecting 'x' number of W's. I am impatiently waiting for a product that at least attempts to be competent and competitive. Whether they win or lose will play out but at least play a watchable, winning style of football.

Johnny Football had exactly ZERO D1 snaps, and won the Heisman.

So there.

No way, Iowa goes 0-8 in the conference in 2013.

Signed,
No way, Iowa goes 2-6 in the conference in 2012.
