PC best get on this response HN coronavirus Health inspector general is confused, he might of missed something o_O

But I will reply to you with my question about something PC said which is anyone who is shedding virus is contagious to others if they are close enough to them or leave virus behind. After all this time there hasnt been anything in the research and news that says some people shedding virus cant infect someone else.

Bloomberg report: "While thers some evidence that this virus doesn't care for heat, most transmission has been occurring indoors."

You know, precisely where we have been asked to coop up for the past two months.

Meanwhile Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot is on the rampage, threatening to arrest, prosecute, and jail citizens of her city who violate stay at home orders with large social gatherings.

Good luck Ms. Lightfoot. And remember to bring body bags for your own police force if you think that city is going to stay cooped up inside much longer.
I wonder if she will let them out to get a haircut like she did last week?

Lightfoot: "I’m the public face of this city. I’m on national media. And I’m out in the public eye. I take my personal hygiene very seriously. I felt like I needed to have a haircut. I’m not able to do that myself. So, I got a haircut."

Her public eye could be a major shiner if she doesn't cool her jets here.

Threatening arrests and jail will just pour kerosene on the fire. And invite more and larger and potentially more dangerous groups to congregate.

Are you replying to some other story or post on this thread? What is the reason you are questioning the contagious rate and what percentage of infected people are doing the infecting?

Seth Doane, a reporter for CBS News currently in Italy, has been reporting on Covid for at least 4-6 weeks. He had a pretty bad case of covid himself and they showed him getting a swab style PCR test multiple times to find out when he did not have virus in his saliva or nasal passages. It took 4 weeks from time of his symptoms to stop testing positive for live virus and then add on anywhere from a few days to 14 days prior to his symptoms showing.

So it seems someone could be contagious for 4 to 6 weeks. I hadn't read that yet.

I was responding to the post I quoted saying people with no symptoms don't spread the virus much.

You pay more attention to Illinois leaders than those of us in downstate Chicago do.,

I'm sure Chicago will survive what might happen!

After all they survived the 1871 fire.

They survived the 1968 democratic convention riots.

They've been put to the test before

Yes, she could have said more or less the same thing without all the threats. As a leader you re-state the issue and the problem, you say what needs to be done in this case no larger groups, keep your distance, and you implore them to not spread it to their family and neighbors. Then about the only threat is to say otherwise there will have to be more stringent shut downs, social distancing etc because of the need for much better public safety.

Don't mention arrests or anything you might do. And arresting people in this situation of a virus is stupid to put people in jails. Dont tell them but just cite them if needed with a first $100 fine then a second higher fine.

What is the rationale for a fine, because by getting in huge crowds you are causing infections to go up which costs everybody in dollars and illness.

That is the most dangerous deal with this thing. Washington State was the first to be found to have it. I guess taking a look at them now and their curve for cases can show somewhat the virility rate. No surprise they have a sharp curve upward in the beginning as they didn't really have hunker down orders in place. What is interesting is the slow snail pace curve back down with fluctuations. That is kind of discouraging and may support your guy's points earlier about how long it actually takes to clear the body of the virus. Hell, in Iowa I'm not even sure we peaked yet and we still have downturn to go for a while. This sucks.

Here is California's holding steady still. They were the 2nd state confirmed.

Ah, I see, well from what experts say asymptomatic people shedding the virus are equal opportunity infectors as much as any other infected, shedding person. Is that what you understand?

TK linked an article saying that's not the case. Or may not be the case. I don't see how that's possible tho considering how fast it spreads.

This is not good news!!

USA Today: "If COVID-19 follows a pattern set by the 1918 Spanish flu, the pandemic is likely to last up to two years and return with a vengeance this fall and winter – a second wave worse than the first, according to a study issued from the University of Minnesota.

"States, territories and tribal health authorities should plan for the worst-case scenario," warns the report out of the university's Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, "including no vaccine availability or herd immunity."

"Risk communication messaging from government officials should incorporate the concept that this pandemic will not be over soon and that people need to be prepared for possible periodic resurgences of disease," the authors suggest.

The study team, headed by Dr. Kristine A. Moore, medical director at the University of Minnesota center, included pandemic experts from Harvard and Tulane universities.

Antibody tests were supposed to help guide reopening plans. They've brought more confusion than clarity amid coronavirus.

In a preface to the report, researchers said they are striving to produce critical and timely information "with straight talk and clarity."

The worst-case scenario – with a major resurgence by year's end – is one of three laid out in the paper.

A second possibility suggests the outbreak this year could be followed by a series of smaller waves into 2021.

And a third scenario, not seen in previous pandemics, would feature a "slow burn" of viral transmission with no clear pattern.

"The virus caught the global community off guard, and its future course is still highly unpredictable," says the report. "There is no crystal ball to tell us what the future holds and what the 'end game' for controlling this pandemic will be."

However, it stresses, a COVID-19 vaccine is not likely to be available until 2021. And, because up to a quarter of those infected may have no symptoms – and others spread the disease for days before feeling ill – historic influenza pandemics provide the best model."

Really. I am sure most every family physician and infectious disease doctor, internist would logically state that a person shedding virus when they exhale, cough, their touch, etc is infectious. I suppose the only way they wouldn't be infectious if they themselves inhaled only one virus that had mutated to be non-infectious and every one of their who knows how many thousands or millions of progeny virus are still in that non-infectious mutation strain.

I suppose I can email that Univ of Iowa virologist for a definite answer but probably wont.

This is pretty riveting. Nevada nurse who was assigned to NYC Hospital totally frustrated ...

I mention this type of thing three weeks ago. Bad hospitals will always be bad. In most every hospital in the US, nurses stand up for patients against doctors. Almost always the outcome is Dr 1 Nurse 0. The nurses see the hour by hour drs do not. If you can't advocate for yourself or have a family member knowledgeable enough to do it, avoid if you can and do what you can to stay healthy. Knew a nurse in OB who stood up to a female OB who practiced with her husband. He sided w the nurse. Nurse lost her job.

What I ve read on travel nurse message boards makes me sick. The number of really young inexperienced nurses pulling respirator duty w no experience. Respirators can easily kill. The hospitals want cheap. They don't want experienced nurses who know enough to tell the truth. The young ones...some of them follow money and praise. It's rather scary.

Doctors also can harass w absolute immunity.
