And just a reminder that our current lack of testing is still a failure in responding to this pandemic.

Iceland lab's testing suggests 50% of coronavirus cases have no symptoms

There's a lot about Iceland that other countries could envy: Its spectacular natural surroundings, its place among the world's happiest countries, and, now, its large-scale testing for the novel coronavirus, which could influence how the world understands the outbreak.

Experts have said comprehensive testing is key to controlling coronavirus, and creating a more accurate picture of the spread of Covid-19. This island-nation of 360,000 is doing just that.

I wonder if Ragbrai will get cancelled this summer?
Other sporting events that are on notice:

The Indianapolis 500
The Tour de France
The Running Of The Bulls
The White Sox-Yankees game at the Field of Dreams
The Canadian Football League
The WNBA
NBA summer leagues
Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo
The Ryder Cup golf event

Obviously, people must get back to work before we worry about sports. That's a higher priority. Hopefully we peak this week or early next week, or plateau as some insist, and we start the downward slide shortly thereafter.

In Chicago, 70% of COVID-19 Deaths Are Black

As the virus continues to spread, the high mortality rate for black residents is alarming.

“It’s disturbing and upsetting, but not surprising,” said Dr. Linda Rae Murray, health policy professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. “This is just a reflection of the facts that we already know about these pandemics. People who are vulnerable will die quicker and won’t have as many resources.”

The governor @GovRonDeSantis’ office does not take social distancing seriously. Instead of allowing us to finish this morning’s round table with the speakers in their seats, we were given no choice but to move to a gaggle format for questions.

Meanwhile...

Here’s why Florida got all the emergency medical supplies it requested while other states did not

On March 11, Florida requested a cache of emergency supplies from the federal government to protect its medical workers against the novel coronavirus.

Three days later, the state got everything it wanted.

Other states had only tiny slivers of their requests fulfilled, including some that had asked for them earlier than Florida. Oregon and Oklahoma received only about 10%; New Jersey got less than 6%.

There are too many people still not taking this seriously for it to peak anytime soon IMO, going to be at least a few months yet Im guessing. Some of the hardest hit areas should start to taper off soon, but others likely have a long way to go.

Thomas declined to specify how he and Gula had managed to obtain masks that have become so rare that some hospitals have resorted to reusing them or having health care workers tie bandannas or scarfs around their faces. “It’s just relationship-based,” he said. “I can’t say anything else.”

“I don’t want to overstate, but we probably represent the largest global supply chain for Covid-19 supplies right now,” he said. “We are getting ready to fill 100 million-unit mask orders.”

I know it’s just one day but interestingly the Cases were lower today overall and in N.Y. who saw about 4 or 5K less cases. The First day drop in 2 weeks.

That was certainly part of the fact that there were "only" 25,316 new confirmed cases yesterday in the nation. The lowest one day total of new confirmed cases in the month of April
