    The way forward

To my own surprise, yesterday's loss (which I didn't find as unexpected as some) while disappointing might yet prove the turning point that leads to an excellent season. Some observations from yesterday will provide the rationale. While the dl got hashed in the 4th, this is not a bad dl...

    Bison prediction thread

This game worries me. 11am kickoff, KF's saying all the right things but I expect to see a lethargic Iowa to start the game. Ndsu will show very different looks for sure and play hopped-up ball. I'm anticipating a boise-alabama type game. 31-24 type score, hopefully for the Hawks.

    ND State Offense?

I haven't watched the Bison before but generally speaking, everybody seems to opine that their offense is of the Iowa/Wisky/MSU type. That said, I have the feeling they have gameplanned differently for this Saturday. NSDU per their fans was supposed to have their best team ever this year, yes...

Howe: Barta Bets on Ferentz with Another Large Contract Buyout

Agreed. Ferentz is worth his salary but that buyout is nuts. KF has now redoubled his grip on Iowa's proverbial nuts. If his performance drops off drastically in the years prior retirement, one can only hope that the next guy can make a baby out of the few swimmers remaining in Iowa-FB's ...you...

    Pinetime - Aaron Mends

It's almost certain that Mends just recovered from a minor but undisclosed injury. The Captain alludes to a couple recently recovered guys getting in for a bit while scheel didn't (even though he too could have.) One of the couple guys who saw just a bit of action is likely mends.

CJ Beathard - How Players Mature.

The boy came in carefree with long blonde hair, no reponsibilities, and a brash mouth. He left a man with an office haircut and a baby. Iowa did that, it did, and still does. --top of the charts country music song in 2017

    Will Iowa miss Jim Reid?

Reid's departure hasn't received the attention it probably deserves. Not sure how many experts factored it into their season predictions...I know I didn't.

Do we have a won-loss season prediction yet?

I see Iowa being favored (at least in my own mind) in every game, possibly even the CCG. But it will come down to fearless play and coaching. So my predictions with caveats-- 1. Old Kirk's resurgence will produce 1 OOC loss and 2 regular season for a 9-3 record and underdog status in the CCG...

Howe: Much on the Line in Working Out Ferentz’s Final Deal

    1. Kirk is a financial genius. His ensures that contract negotiations occur at the conclusion of superlative seasons. 2. Lessons from seasons past indicate that Kirk when distracted by non-field related things (even in the offseason) delivers crappy w-l records. I just hope they wrap this up...

What Game are you most looking forward to this fall?

Nebraska, NU, Illinois, Wisky in that order because that's my ranking of of division champ threats to Iowa. There's a good chance of the need to win a tie-breaker, so division games are paramount. Michigan will be a nice feather but if we have to play them twice, it's the second one that really...

    2010 anyone?

Spievey would've more than made up for every misfortune and circumstance the hawks encountered that season. There's little doubt at least from my viewpoint that his presence would've helped to circumvent every loss that year.

KF and HF QBs - Rate Them

Gotta throw Stanzi also in there. Even though Long might own the top spot by virtue of stats accumulated over 5 years and heisman runnerup, KF's guys will compete well. I would rank Long, Banks, CJ (even if he is a bust in 2016), Stanzi as the top 4.

    Fry v KF

This post is not about knocking Fry because I do believe that he brought the all-important winning attitude to Iowa football. That said, I also watched a serious decline in Iowa football after the departure of Matt Rodgers. The trick plays that Fry is apparently so famous for, I never got to see...

Snyder Aiming to Be Latest Walk-On Success Story at Free Safety

He maybe a walkon but ever since Snyder arrived on campus he has received as much or more hype than most of our 4-stars. So expectations are justifiably high.

    Over on Cyclone fanatic ...

In this case, I woulda preferred being wrong but there is this problem. These are the games KF should be forced to watch in the offseason so we don't have relive such moments.

    Over on Cyclone fanatic ...

Correct me if i'm wrong but if KF manufactures a win this year against ISU, it would be the first time he succeeds in his first attempt against a ISU coach.

Desmomd King Leaves Impression on Indy S Ben Stewart

Had forgotten about Reid's loss...makes me slightly less optimistic about the upcoming season. Perhaps OT for this thread but what's Iowa's plan to compensate for Reid?

C.J.'s Dad Tells HN How He Ended Up in Surgery, Recovery Time

"He won’t come out because I think he’s afraid he’s going to lose his job. I think at times he was in a lot of pain." It would appear that Wiegers could be as good as Rudock was.

Prepping for a glorious 2016-17 season

On a cell ph, so excuse brevity and typos. I know what u r saying but disagree with the fatalistic premise. First, Bama or Clem would not have rammed Iowa any worse than the trees. Also I daresay the Stamford game was not representative of a typical iowa-stan matchup...things snowballed yielding...
