With FSU and Clemson Joining the Big 12...

Single-game tickets: $55 for game against Central Michigan; $60 for game against Northern Iowa; $65 for games against Minnesota, Penn State and Purdue; $70 for Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game against Iowa State and the 2012 Hy-Vee Heroes Game against Nebraska

Looks like flat out market value to me.

The game certainly benefits ISU more than Iowa from a revenue standpoint. ISU charges $90 for the game, if they replace it with a FBS team, the will lose $30 per set at least.

Please list ISU's and explain to me how it isn't a bigger financial impact to ISU? Plus Iowa then has to split the gate on a 50K stadium, while they supply 70K paying fans.

Really Dude…..I honestly thought about changing the “packedâ€￾ wording as clearly it was a word based on relative capacity, but I honestly thought people would get the implication. Cleary I should have known better.

Lets paint the picture…..Iowa was so bad they were routinely laughed at yet they STILL by your own admission drew 50K plus fans. That is literally remarkable.

ISU in the 70’s were actually pretty dang good yet they couldn't even half fill their stadium…this stuff doesn’t work quite as well if it has to be explained, clearly others got it.

Argue all you want but how am I supposed to know you didnt literally mean "packed the stadium" when that is what you wrote?

They get it dean; they just don’t want to feel like they need Iowa for anything. Cleary its more of a financial boon for them than us. I don’t really blame them for feeling that way though

Of course he also will fail to mention how ISU averages their home game attendance over the course of the year when it's their turn to pay Iowa, where Iowa just gives ISU 20% of that games' gate, or the fact that ISU got an extra year of the old agreement.

Look I am not saying that ISU can't schedule some directional school and do fine but to say that they wouldn't and don't make more money with Iowa on the schedule is laughable.

Iowa and Iowa State interpret the contract differently. Iowa pays its 20 percent from the game itself. Iowa State pays its 20 percent from an average seasonal gate. Kinnick Stadium seats about 14,000 more fans than Jack Trice Stadium, so Iowa’s 20 percent payment is larger than what Iowa State pays.

After the 2009 and 2007 games in Ames, Iowa received $381,000 and $330,389, respectively. Iowa paid Iowa State $551,813 in 2010 and $616,383 in 2008.

In its most recent four trips to Kinnick Stadium (2004-06-08-10), Iowa State has earned a combined $2,342,235.44 as the visitor (a $585,558.86 per-game average). Iowa has earned a combined $1,526,555.77 (a $381,638.94 per-game average) in its last four games at Jack Trice Stadium (2005-07-09-11).

Boom. Roasted.

Wasnt ISU $90 for the Iowa game and $45-$55 for conference games? I honestly dont know as it has been years since I bought single game tickets.

ISU has also split the gate and put 55k in JTS. Its part of the agreement and tickets are higher in Ames than IC so it evens out. ISU is paying $45 a ticket to Iowa while this seasons game ISU only gets $35 a ticket. Lower ticket price equals less gate money. And I know gate prices are discussed between Barta and Pollard and Pollard raises prices give Barta a larger amount of money since we have 15k less seats. So in the end Iowa makes hay off the ISU game every year and vice versa.

Averaged over 50k per game last season in JTS, first time in decades and I believe we only played Iowa once last season? As for the gate money see my last post it evens out, Barta and Pollard have an agreement in place.

Wow, you are simply delusional. No matter what way you cut it splitting the gates is a HUGE advantage to ISU. No other school on the planet would schedule a home and home with ISU with such great financial benefits for ISU.

In what world is 2.3 million = to 1.5 million with gate splitting?

LOL, do you know how the agreement works and part of the reason ISU charges the $90 a ticket or are you just questioning every post I make?

It is shrinking and you have to look no further than the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids/Quad Cities area. Growing up I was hard pressed to find anything ISU around the area, now ISU is all over the place. ISU has always been #1 in central Iowa, but now where once was 60/40 in eastern Iowa, that is now shrinking.

isu is not #1 in central iowa. so you are saying if iowa state was on tv playing a football game the same time iowa was, that iowa state would have higher ratings? (good luck seeing your team on tv, but please allow imagination for the example here)

there is no way - just talk to a tv marketing person locally - iowa crushes in terms of viewership.

Well either your sharp or you’re not…..pretty simple stuff. You know me and I know I irritate you but I don’t trick-bag myself very often and you know it. So do the math….

Ok I was wrong about the gate money but sure as hell am not wrong about ticket prices at Kinnick.

Yes, you are. Removing the fan aspect from it and looking at it from strictly a marketing perspective it's only sensible that the in state game with the easiest draw for seats to fill would be the highest priced tickets by the slim margin that they are compared to others.

If the tickets were $25 or more inflated you would have a case.
