With FSU and Clemson Joining the Big 12...

What is Texas getting that the rest of the Big 12 isn't getting now? Nothing.

What part of "in the past" was confusing?

And by the way, I will buy that Texas isn't getting favors anymore when I see them play a game in Ames in November.

A winning ISU is good for Iowa. A packed JTS is good for Iowa. Some don't think so. Something about in state recruits. Not sure what their logic is, but Iowa's football staff doesn't seem to think so. Although they do throw it our there, and the press and casual observer gobble it up.

I really don't understand this ISU hatred. It confuses me.

The problem is that rarely does Iowa see a winning ISU. If ISU were a perennial bowl contender at the very least I might agree that it's more valuable of a game to keep scheduled, but as is stands ISU has far more to gain from winning against Iowa than Iowa does for winning against ISU.

I can make that case without touching the recruiting aspect.

I'm not certain it's all in the past. They're still collecting the penalty money from Colorado and Nebby. Colorado for sure. Nebby might have paid it off in a lump, but I suspect the B1G is helping them with their accepting lower TV revenue.

Follow the money Brother Hog. Just like that attorney that ran For Gov here. I think ya know what I'm saying. Shook down the legislatures for the confinement hog issue. Yeah, same game, same level, different business.

Well, I am not sure what you're responding to here, the point with my original response was simply that ND would have seen a more attractive, vulnerable B12 in the past for sure. I agree, I don't think the B12 favoritism is over, hence the Texas/ISU scheduling comment and that's really not the meat of it.

Here's how I see it. The Iowa game is important to Iowa State, but Texas is more important to Iowa State than Iowa is. Not sure if that can be debated, but I suppose I'll see.

If, and it is a big IF, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame (just throwing some schools out there) join the Big 12, Iowa's current importance to Iowa State will cease to exist. Again, not sure if this can be argued.

They are all important. We only get 12. Maybe 13. Maybe 14. Toughest part of business, taking em one at a time. I'd imagine it's a pretty tough coaching job also. Especially at the college level.

This is the 100 million dollar statement Golfer and the number 1 reason Im never overly critical of our coaches. I find it maddening to lead my charges on a day to day baisis. And since I know most of life is about effort, focus and execution I dont know how they consistently lead 18 to 20 somethings on a week to week basis.

It all depends on what you define as important-

In your first point of course Texas is more important that then Iowa game because it's a conference game and that is a sexy game so fans buy tickets.

As far as your second point, if the Big 12 does expand of course it will be great for ISU based on more $$$.

Again it all depends on if the ISU fans continue to buy tickets. I will be the first to say that things look to be headed in the right direction but as we all know things can change and if ISU starts going 3-9, 4-8, etc. will the fans still buy tickets? That's the bigger question.

Just listened to an interview of a SEC official. They are looking to add 2 more teams by the following criteria: not in a state in which they currently have a team.

This works with common thinking that V Tech and NC State are the two schools.

They also feel that by the virtue of adding teams, they get to renegotiate their TV deal.

Single-game tickets: $55 for game against Central Michigan; $60 for game against Northern Iowa; $65 for games against Minnesota, Penn State and Purdue; $70 for Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game against Iowa State and the 2012 Hy-Vee Heroes Game against Nebraska

How exactly is Iowa jacking up the price?
