Let's look at this a different way. Oregon won the CBI last year, and they played against Weber St., Boise St., Duquesne, and Creighton. The RPI of those teams, last season, was respectively 148, 114, 123, and 108.
If we attach those sorry RPI numbers to this year, Iowa would be facing talented teams like Stony Brook, Indiana St, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Georgia.
The level of competition in the CBI is much, much lower than that of the Big 10. How will it benefit the team in the future to finish out the season playing lesser competition in a tournament no one cares about on a TV network broadcasting to 17% of the homes in the country?
