Urban only get's 3 game suspension, Geesshh!

Not a single person on the stage, Drake, smith or urban looked remotely believable. OSU hired a OSU led committee to investigate OSU and preserved OSU football. Shocker.

They had an agenda and achieved that agenda. So problem solved. No surprises.

Depends on the coach. Most are dispensable. If it were Luke Frickel or Greg Schiano as the head coach, they'd be gone. OSU was going to figure out a way to retain Meyer, whatever they had to do or say.

Here's the thing - Art Briles basically made Baylor football relevant. Remember they were worse than ISU by miles. They still fired Art Briles even though he's the only person to make Baylor football relevant in basically my lifetime. OSU has won national titles recently. They just don't need this to win... they chose it.

I'm surprised they didn't wait until Friday afternoon, 4 p.m. CST to have this press conference, just like politicians do when they have to admit something went wrong or some kind of wrongdoing, so the weekend and all its activities make it get lost in the shuffle.

It's really like they're saying "We're tOSU, and we'll take the crapstorm because we're so big and powerful. Sooner or later this will all go away and Urban can lead us to more victories."

Stephen A, btw, just had a good point. How come Urb only gets a three day suspension for what he did but players get a 4 day suspension for selling shoes?

You guys can rail against OSU all you want, but the question you should be asking is, why hasn't Jim Delany stepped in?

And if he hasn't stepped in, why hasn't Mark Emmert done something? Both of those ignorant fucks have the power to trump anything OSU does to Urban Meyer. They have an unimpeded fast track to send Urban Meyer out of college football permanently.

Why don't they? Because of the big money? No fucking way. Urban Meyer is universally hated by anyone who isn't a Buckeye fan and by plenty of fans who are. Getting rid of Meyer would be lauded by everyone in the sports community outside of Ohio. Everyone.

Here's why...Delany and Emmert have proven themselves time and time again to be spineless, weak-minded, cuckolded jellyfish who don't have the stones nor the intelligence to do what's right. Whether it's Meyer, Sandusky, Paterno, Pitino, Calipari, or Stoops.

You all knew damn well OSU wan't going to do anything, why all the surprise and outrage? Put it where the outrage belongs, fellas. You're barking up the wrong goddamn tree.

Art Briles was dealing with a murder situation.

Just report it and let the people above you handle it. If it's nothing, then it's nothing. If it's something, then those in charge will address it. Either way, your conduct is clean. Urban Meyer didn't beat Courtney Smith (or allegedly so), so he should not have behaved/acted like he did so. People get in trouble when they start to personalize the bad behavior of others.

I cant help but to try and put myself in Urban Meyers’ shoes. He’s got an unbelievably high pressure job at OSU. He’s gotta win to keep everyone happy, he’s gotta manage every aspect of the program, staff, and players. If I was him, I wouldn’t want or need any outside distractions. Just because of Title IX, and the fact its a government funded program it makes everyone involved basically responsible if they dont report something thats going on. Its the governments way of turning everyone into a wistleblower and we all know whistleblowers are always left to hang out to dry. Thats just fundamentally wrong. Listen, Urban never hit that women, and I dont think its really his job to handle everyone in the programs personal life. Cops themselves are careful to get involved in domestic violence calls because they sometimes get attacked by the one who called for help! I once saw a guy come to the aid of a women that was getting beat by her boyfriend in a parking lot. Now he has got a metal plate in his head from getting hit with a crowbow. I say let the cops do their job and handle it and for government to stop trying to make narcs out of us all. Thats what the cops get paid for. Now I dont mean we all have to turn our heads and look the other way, but we all shouldnt be held resposible for other peoples actions just because a lot of us dont want to get too involved because most of us already have enough on our plates. Besides, you never know when one of these physcos are gonna go postal and start looking for someone to blame, and guess what! You just happen to be one of the ones that he blames for his troubles. My best advice is for everyone is to mind their own business and make an anonymous phone call to the police if you see or hear something going on if your conscience bothers you. But dont kill the pig just cause he saw the fox kill the chicken!

It's like a lot of incidents in sports. If your the "star" you get away with murder. If your team is 4-8. Your the lowest of the low. Urban Meyer got a slap on the hand. And the University keeps that money rolling in. At the end of the day it wasn't about doing what's right, it was about money. Championships mean money.

I'm not sure firing is the answer, but I definitely think it should have been a longer suspension. Despite the fact I think Meyer was an absolute snake both before and after this news broke, I try to step outside the box and think if he were just an average Joe who worked as a supervisor to others in a non-high profile position would that person be terminated for the actions of one of the individuals beneath him. I completely despise the guy and think he's an absolute creep, but If this were to happen to an everyday individual I don't see it being something they are terminated for.

That said he and Smith did absolutely nothing to help their cause at the press conference that I think made both themselves and the University look even worse and may have opened the doors to another investigation orchestrated by those outside of Columbus. I simply don't think this is over and I think the level of outrage actually increased after the press conference. Its safe to say that no one expected OSU to terminate him if it wasn't done within the first few days after the news broke, but they could have at least faked it during the presser and shown some remorse for the victim.

I think I read that Urban will be allowed to run practices during this "suspension" but won't be allowed at the games. Really? Suspension? Huh.

I realize this is trivial, but that press conference was brutal. There isn't a PR firm in Columbus that could of helped Urb out? Tell him what say, how to say it. He could have avoided a lot of this backlash by following some simple public speaking rules 101. Is he that arrogant? He thought he go up to the podium, read off a sheet of paper and everything would be okay.

Only one perp here....its not urban meyer. One person beat his wife. One woman chose not to go to police. You never abuse a human being, woman, child or man...but if you dont stand up for yourself dont blame others. Urban Meyer is not a cop or an employer . Is everyone else in her life that knew about it in trouble at their job? This is my opinion. Dont like the guy but dont villainize him. With all of the resources available to her, hes the bad guy? I support women, hell im owned by one. Lol But i hate to see this. So he's a real sob for not reporting it. She's an adult.

A reasonable person would have done what you said in line 1. Report and get it off your plate. He didnt commit the crime. Agree.

Ah, some good old fashioned victim shaming.

Urban Meyer was a part of this the second he and his mentor sat down with her to convince her the asshole would change his stripes.

You say cynicism; I say pragmatism...

Potato/po-tah-to.

Up to you which word you want to use for it.

In some cases pragmatism is similar to cynicism. However I have seen enough content from you to reasonably assume that most of the time you bet on the worst case scenario. That gives the appearance of wholesale cynicism.

It is quite possible that in your life you may have observed the worst case scenario playing out more than a positive or fair outcome. That could certainly redefine someone's barometer for pragmatism.

However I just get the impression that you are a cynic in general about society. I'm not even saying that it's all that bad. After all a cynical eye is an important tool. Also positive side note that I can almost always at least gauge where you will fall on the opinion scale.
