Fran is not a good coach. That is just ludicrous to say he is. Honestly calling him mediocre right now might even be generous.

I wouldn't even call the job he's done mediocre this season, but good coaches can have bad seasons? It doesn't have to be so black and white. So absolute. So 1 way or the other. Fran accomplished a lot to get where he is today. Guys that get to the B1G level don't get there because they aren't good coaches. Good god!

I'm glad you think Todd Lickliter is a good coach so I can continue to disagree with you. Don't worry you don't need to tell me he was once National Coach of the Year with Brad Stevens on his bench because I'm already aware.

yeah, he got exposed - he didn't finish in the top half of one of the country's best basketball leagues for 5 straight seasons. You guys are off the rails. Fran is having a bad year, and extremely bad year IMO - that doesn't make him a bad coach.

Iowa is a good place for a basketball program. Fran goes to Nebraska and he's way below what they've done. Fran is not a good coach period. If you can't teach your own kids to shoot properly..... or block out... or become physical, then how is he a good coach?

I guess I don't have enough hoops knowledge to be in this conversation. I just don't know the game as much as you experts. Fran is an idiot ( making millions, coaching in the B1G, living a life none of us can comprehend ) who can't even teach his OWN kids to be good enough to play basketball. I'm over matched here guys and fighting with you is fruitless because I clearly don't understand the game. Thank you for helping me see.

People somehow find it easier to believe that a bad coach can have 3 pretty good years than that a good coach can have one bad year.

There's a large difference between saying someone is a bad coach and saying Lick and Fran are good coaches because they coached at the B1G level.

In this, his worst year, we still aren't the worst team in the conference in spite of being the youngest team in the conference. We're also second in scoring. Defensive issues can be addressed in the off-season much more easily than offensive issues.

You are entitled to your opinion - I respect that you have it. I would just like more explanation on him being a bad coach with your sample? How do not very good coaches place in the top half of one of the country's elite conferences 5 seasons in row? How do measure your sample? What would it take for you to think he was just a good coach?

First of all I'm tired of his tantrums and substitutions. He can't seem to get a point guard.
