Yes, you are right in that he will be just fine. But what could've been is what we are talking about here. I am sure he has made plenty of NIL money at Alabama to keep his bills paid for a long time.
I think what happened is what was meant to happen. If he truly wasn’t down for doing what the Iowa staff expects, he probably would have had a bad time in IC and probably quit or transferred anyway.
He got a ton of NIL and won a ton of games at Bama and likely will still be a 2nd round draft pick at worst.
I know somebody who works at SE Polk schools and says he’s one of the nicest kids around. I don’t think he’s like a lot of other high level athletes and that’s ok.

If I remember correctly Bulaga started in the Super Bowl his rookie year.
That's just it he doesn't realize what he coulda been. He's content cause he thinks he's at the top. But he's clearly not. Maybe he'll mature the older he gets. I'm sure the NFL will humble his ass though. And I'm just assuming he'll go pro and not stay another yr. Cause once he hears 1st round grade why stay.

If you are 7 foot tall, or if you are 6'5", 300+ labs...you don't really get to choose your hobbies/passions. Sports are thrust upon you, whether you like it or not. For those of us also passionate about sports, we think about what a blessing it would be to be born with those gifts. But for those that are not passionate about sports, it is a double-edged sword. It provide opportunities, and in some cases fame and fortune. But they are also forced to toil away at something that doesn't bring that much joy to their lives.
I am certainly not saying we should be all "poor baby" towards preternaturally gifted athletes that are not that into sports. Mastery and dominance are fun, and even if you were not initially drawn to an endeavor, becoming really good at it is a reward in and of itself. But if you imagine yourself being pushed into something you are not really that into as a youth simply because of the gifts you were born with, you can maybe see how it could be challenge.
I don't know Proctor, so I don't know if this accurately describes him. But if this does capture his situation, my guess is that he will become more serious about FB as he matures and finds satisfaction in achieving mastery in this elite domain. I sure wouldn't bet against him having a sterling career.
