Iowa fans are fed up with the pettiness of a former Hawkeye hooper

It is petty and “UnHawkeye” for him to post things like that, no doubt. It seems almost like Akrum Wadley behavior concerning the opportunities the University offered him.
That being said, the author of the article could change the title of the article to “I am fed up with the pettiness…”. I personally would not have known about Connor’s posts if you hadn’t started this thread.

Wow. Fran’s son has shown some bitterness over his father’s firing. Who would have thought Connor would favor his dad! Oh, wait. Never mind…

Petty? Yes. I get it, tho. The fan base wasn’t exactly enduring to the McCaffrey family, and they took a lot of shit. Not condoning the bitterness, but I understand it.

In my opinion it's water under the bridge. The McCaffrey's went one way. Iowa went another way. I'd be shocked if they weren't somewhat pissed and vocal after leaving. On the other hand Connor gave us everything he had while hear and contributed his blood, sweat, and tears in to the program which is more than any of us did. If he wants to throw shade out there, I have zero issue with it. Loved him as a former Hawkeye, but he's free to think what he wants. Iowa basketball went a different direction and the McCaffrey's went another direction. We're better off now so honestly I don't care what they have to say, but I'll take it with a grain of salt, because I get why he's bitter.

Interesting......... most wins as a hawkeye coach............ but didn't do shit in March........... which means neither did his sons.

It's sad frankly. He all but grew up in Iowa City went to HS and 6 yrs of college there. Played 2 sports. The school and fan base all rallied around Patrick when he fought back from cancer. There is no one in college basketball on this side of Dickie V who's a larger advocate for fighting cancer then Fran. We all know this. He can't hide from his history with the city, program and fans. I look at him as the result of a kid that was born on 3rd base and wasn't taught how to cope when he doesn't get his way.

So when the business side of what happened to Fran happened you'd think a kid that grew up with a D1 HC as his Dad would understand it better. How many D1 coaches have never been fired? It happens to damn near all of em. And now to top it off he himself has gotten himself into coaching. Is he going to react in such a way if Penn fires Fran or if Butler fires him? It's a slippery slope for him to be behaving this way towards Iowa for no other reason then how it looks onto himself as he tries to further his own career. (granted so long as he's with Caitlin he'll never have to really worry about much of anything)

Everyone understands that he and the McCafferys aren't going to be McCollums number one fans. That goes without saying. Nobody expects them to be cheerleaders for the program now. But they don't have to go out of their ways to be a dick. Which is what he's been doing. That the minimum of what's being asked by the fanbase and he doesn't want play it that way.

This is the one that really gets me. Cause he made it seem like he doesn't 'get it' So much so one of his former assistant coaches Tristan Spurlock tweeted back at him this. One would think Fran woulda checked him privately about this but I doubt he ever did. The thing is it's worse then that. He is a smart guy he totally understands what he's doing. It's all intentional. He just doesn't care. He's being vindictive cause that makes him feel better I guess...

It's a good thing his Dad is more professional about it then he is. Not to mention his brothers who as far as I know haven't publicly made asses of themselves on it. I wouldn't say the bridge is totally burned down for some future reconciliation. But he seems to like relighting the Molotov coctails after he throws em. So if there's ever going to be a reconciliation he'll have to want there to be one.
