Rushing the field

How many fat, yellow-jacketed Per-Mar security guys would it take to keep 20,000 douchebags off the field? There's nothing they can do about it.

It takes considerably less cops armed with tasers to keep people off the field than Per-Mar guys.

Hey Dwayne, What did you think of the fans who "rushed the field" in Minneapolis after the Hawks beat the goofers in 2002? We tore down their goal posts and they played this gawd awful static on the loudspeakers to try to get us off. That didn't work either.

at most on any given saturday it is a couple thousand, only wins like PSU '08 is it that many. nice exageration tho, d0uche

Wow. You do get disoriented when you rant. Slow down and type calmly.

As far as the fans who rushed the field in Minnesota in 2002, they're douchebags.

I agree. They should probably go that route.

And yet they don't. Like I said, in policy they're against it, but in practice they really don't care.

And honestly, we rarely RUSH the field. It's usually just a trickle. That's not particularly hard to stop if you wanted to.

Trickling, rushing, it's all the same. Probably worse to trickle, really (though less dangerous). Show some gusto, douchebags!

A trickle like on Saturday is MUCH easier to stop than a RUSH like what happened against PSU. Nothing was going to stop that one from happening. Like I said, we rarely RUSH the field. It's usually just people wanting to go down and congratulate the team on a big win (and it's mostly students anyway). There's not really anything wrong with that. All it does is show how much the fans love this program.

Trickling, rushing: Six douchebags of one, a half-dozen douchebags of the other.

That's great news. Good to know there is a smaller percentage of douchebags in our fanbase than previously assumed.

you are doing a pretty good job of selling yourself into that category. d0uchebads like to stir the pot, that of which you have pin pointed.

d0uchebags are actually the fans that leave early, you are probably one of those d0uches

Just curious, what makes those people d0uchebags, other than that they rush the field?

Nothing other than that. Rushing the field makes them douchebags. Sorry for not having been more clear about this earlier.

I'm sure some of them would be douchebags regardless, though.

No, I mean what about rushing the field makes them d0uchebags? There must be some kind of standard that has to be met for an act to be d0uche-y.

Rushing onto the field is the part of rushing the field that makes them douchebags. Sorry again for being unclear.

throwing sh1t from the stands, or belittling visiting fans would be better examples of d0uchey things to do, NOT rushing the field. It is a universal act, done by virtually every university (at least those that are privy to tremendous wins for programs). Do not put yourself above these other acts of pure jubilation that fans partake in, fans rush the court in basketball with even more frequency than football. get over yourself

That answer only serves as the metaphorical "Just because..."

The field, then, I guess, is the part that makes them douchy. Rushing (or trickling) to the parking lot, to the bar, to the restroom, to their house -- those are all not douchy. Rushing (or trickling) onto the field = douchy.
