Rebuilding in year 7

Moss would have to improve a lot but I could definitely see the other 3 making a team. I would bet Pemsl is a 1st teamer baring injuries.

Moss hasn't even had the opportunity to play. last year we was behind JU, Jok, Sapp, Uhl, so he redshirted. no way he gets minutes and rightly so. this year, he's behind Jok, Baer and Uhl. However, he's started last 2 games and has played well. Moss will be our starting sg for the next 3 seasons, once Jok leaves. He'll be all B1G, in my opinion.

Dag Nab It. At least during football season, we only have around (this year) 4 weeks of reading how our coach is useless. Basketball season is like, 100 games long, so we are going to have to read this garbage a lot more often.

Lets take out year one. Fran has won 107 games and lost 66. That would be a 62% winning record. He has gone from 11 wins the first year to 18, 25, 20, 22, 22. 3 NCAA tournaments and 1 NIT (?). And, yes, a significant number of those wins did not come in the BT. But, the BT has been, for Fran's entire stay at Iowa, arguably the best basketball conference in the country.

I will leave it up to the readers of this thread to list the handles of those who consistently bash Iowa's coaches in football and basketball. Just take a minute, do that, and keep things in perspective.

I thought this could happen as I was quick to point out all the experience we lost last year. There were quite a few that actually believed this team would be better than last year's team. Well there's nothing wrong with being optimistic and I can't fault that. I will admit that I didn't expect this much of a struggle during the non-conference part of the schedule. I thought the first 2/3's of the conference schedule would be tough though.

I was hoping I would get it wrong when I said the Joc and Cook couldn't carry this team alone and that the defense would HAVE TO SHOW UP or else it was going to be a long year. I also felt that we would need at least three other players to make major contributions for this season to be good.

I am still hoping that the players will develope and improve as they play the higher quality teams in the B1G. True champions/competitors will rise to the occasion and eventually rise to the level of play of their foes. It has a rubbing off affect. So this season could be a wash as far as post season tourney play. However, if the players can show that the "rubbing off affect" can happen then there is hope for coming years. If that doesn't happen and we totally collapse then THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES....... that would be Fran. I don't expect that to happen as Fran is too proud and too competitive to except that.

You're crazy

I'll admit that I didn't expect it to be this bad this season - but I didn't know we'd be without Jones and Cook either. I think it's thrusting these new guys into rolls they aren't ready for. I knew the UNO game was gonna be tough. Being from the Omaha area - that's a program that has steadily been on the rise since they joined D1 and I knew Iowa was vulnerable. I still see the positives. I still see potential. I still see a team that will be better as the year goes and will be better in seasons to come because of the early playing time for so many players. Rebuilds happen - Creighton lost a huge Senior class and the next 2 seasons were a disaster - now they are the talk of college basketball.

My issue isnt even with the new kids, I think theyre the best players on the floor for Iowa. My issue is with the veterans. Why arent these guys coached up at the basic fundamentals of basketball, staying in a stance on defense, fighting through screens, blocking out, not getting lost in a zone, not being completely out of position in a zone. I dont even care about the offense, they are so behind defensively as multi year players in the program it isnt even funny. And its not just this group either, Iowa has been gutted defensively every year.

There are only two veterans and one guy doesn't have the stamina to exert that much energy on both ends. When you have that big of a scorer, you really need the other four guys to help him out on defense so he can do what he needs to do on offense. The other veteran doesn't even seem to want to be there.

The sophomore class was a big swing and a miss. Cook, Pemsl and Bohannon are going to be solid players. They still need a point guard. Maybe McCaffery's kid can be that guy.

Let me see if I can remember the junior high school reply...oh yeah, takes one to know one.

Look, if you disagree with my statement, outline it and let's discuss. Simply stating "you're crazy" doesn't get the discussion anywhere.

Moss is in his second year in the program and is only averaging 4 ppg (thanks to 14 points against UT Rio Grande). You think Fran is going to have a future all conference player in his second year in the program only play 2 minutes in a tight game?

Uthoff was losing minutes to McCabe in his 3rd year in D1 and he ended up an all American. If I had to bet on it, I would say he won't be. But I wouldn't bet a ton.

Man you're an idiot. At this point you'd be better off just admitting you are a troll... at least it's better than being an idiot.

Frank Kaminsky averaged 10 MPG & 4 PPG as a sophomore and went on to win the Naismith Player of the year as a senior. You are ridiculing a guy for saying in his opinion he thinks Moss, will be an all conference player in his career?
