possible lineup this fall

He is very very raw. He can RS, and if he improves and plays, great! If not then he could graduate in four years, have one year of eligebility left, stay of go somewhere else and play right away.

Would be shocking to see this scenario play out. Honestly, I can't believe this is even being talked about.

if this is not of the mentality of running off a player , i don't know what is

Agree and I just don't think Fran is that type of coach either...there are at least four players from this year's roster to leave when he first started.

It just doesn't seem to be the style of this coaching staff and if a player chooses to leave, it would be surprising if it was because of the staff.

this goes back to the part about a big takes a year maybe 2 to develope at the next level. but then they talk out the other side of their face RS him and if doesn't develope push him out the door,
so i guess the question is which is it, a big takes a year to develope or a big has to produce immediately?

I misread his post(yes people can make mistakes) Not a fan of GO being pushed out. It won't happen thats not how Fran operates. Just think it's funny how one person suggesting it and Herby goes straight for my opinion vs. the world.

I am all in favor of RS players if they need it but i am not in favor of pushing the kid out the door in 4 years when the coaches and the player puts in his time to the satisfaction of the coaches

Reread my post Herby. Nowhere did I say run him out. I did say rs him to help him improve. If he doesn't, then he would have to ride the pine like so many other players that are not talented enough to see the floor. Leaving for playing time would be his decision. It would be no different than he walk-on that left for that reason.

but the part you are ignoring is that he will improve and a coach will reap success from a RS kid and not want a 5th year player to just move on to play elsewhere, as you suggest

He could not get on the floor ahead of Brommer. Who is he going to take minutes away from? Woodbury? Basabe? Someone else?

The scenario I laid out is assuming he is the last big in line for PT next year.

In that scenario there is no difference between him redshirting and playing a few garbage minutes. Zero.

You are essentially arguing that it is better to wast a year of his eligibility next year rather than giving him the opportunity to earn a spot as a contributor in a fifth year all because his feelings might be hurt.

Thats absurd.

Seriously how dense are you?

Obviously, if he has improved enough to be a contributor you don't have him move on.

Thats as blatantly obvious as anything could possibly be. Its the whole point of the redshirt.

not as absurd as you by saying he will never play a meaningful minute nor can he improve.. he was a raw player as it has been pointed out having PLAYED for just 5 years, before that he was a soccer player. the one game where he got meaningful minute he had 12 minutes 8pts, 5 rbds, and 1 block, after that game he was injured in practice and did not play for 5 games and got very few minutes the rest of the season until the very last couple games where he played in the 1st and 2nd halves, it might have been a few short minutes but they were hardly garbage minutes,
Gabes problem was more mental than it was atheletic, he simply lacked confidence and constantly got down on himself after each mistake, this is supposed to be that developement period some bigs go thru. and from your posts you have completely thrown him under the bus

If you actually think I said he will never play a meaningful minute nor can he improve you have the reading comprehension of three year old.

My exact quote to start in this thread was "he could be a very good player"

I know young children who can read and process written information better than you.
